JBL ProScape NPK Macroelements - 3-component plant fertiliser for aquascaping
Additional care for plants: supplementary fertiliser with 3 components (N = nitrogen; P = phosphorus; K = potassium) for aquascaping aquariums
Dosing is dependent on intensity of illumination, CO2 supply and consumption.
Thriving plant growth, prevents deficiency symptoms: contains nitrogen as nitrate, phosphorus as phosphate, potassium and magnesium for a controlled and precise increase of the values
Iron and trace elements should be added separately. Check with JBL nitrate, phosphate sensitive and potassium tests
Nitrogen in the form of oxygen compounds (NOx) or hydrogen compounds (amines – NH2) have essential functions in an organism, such as in protein metabolism. Whereas it is more common to find an excess of nitrates and phosphates in aquariums with larger fish populations which, in turn, can lead to algae growth, nitrates are often in scarce supply in planted aquariums due to consumption by the aquatic plants. This limits growth in the tank. As the concentrations of nitrates and phosphates in the drinking waters usually used in aquariums vary considerably, depending on the water supplier, it is advisable to use JBL PO4 Test Set and JBL NO3 Test Set to determine the current phosphate concentration and nitrate concentration of the water before adding the JBL ProScape NPK Macroelements. JBL ProScape NPK Macroelements supplies the tank water with nitrogen and phosphorus in the form of nitrate salts and water-soluble phosphate salts. As a result, the aquatic plants obtain the supply of nitrogen they require. Potassium and magnesium are also added to the water at the same time.
The normal dosage is 5 ml /100 l of water for a very well-lit tank with >= 1 W / l of illumination and 2.5 ml/100 l of water for a tank that is not as well lit. The supply of carbon dioxide must also be considered. The following table shows recommended fertiliser concentrations according to the general conditions of the aquarium. As actual precise consumption cannot be predicted, we recommend regularly checking the nitrate concentration and phosphate concentration with JBL NO3 Test Set or JBL PO4 Test Set, especially prior to each follow-up dose. If the measured phosphate levels and nitrate levels of the tank water are outside the above-mentioned range, it is advisable to use the single-component fertilisers, JBL ProScape N Macroelements, JBL ProScape P Macroelements, JBL ProScape K Macroelements and JBL ProScape Mg Macroelements.

Healthy aquarium/healthy pond with near-natural conditionsThe correct water values in the aquarium/pond depend on the fish population and the plants present. Even if the water looks clear, it may be contaminated. If the values are poor, diseases or algae can form in the aquarium/pond. For a healthy aquarium/pond with near-natural conditions, regular monitoring and adjustment of the water values is important.
Why test? The decomposition or mineralisation process of all organic substances in the aquarium and pond takes place via the following stages: Proteins > Ammonium > Nitrite > Nitrate. By measuring the stages, statements can be made about the "functioning" of the aquarium or pond system. If the ammonium or nitrite value is too high, this can lead to a disturbance in the bacterial balance. As a rule, ammonium will not be measurable in a well-maintained aquarium with an efficient biological filter or in a properly designed garden pond. Ammonium is an important plant nutrient and is not normally toxic to fish. Depending on the pH value, however, the ammonium ion can turn into ammonia, which is toxic to fish.
JBL Oxygen Test O2 - Quick test to determine the oxygen content in fresh and saltwater aquariums and ponds.
Easy and reliable monitoring of the water values of aquariums and ponds. Determines the ideal oxygen content in freshwater and seawater

Healthy aquarium/healthy pond with conditions close to natureThe right water values are dependent on the fish stock and the plants in the aquarium/pond. Even if the water looks clear it can be contaminated. With bad values diseases or algae can appear in the aquarium/pond. To maintain a healthy aquarium/pond with conditions close to nature it is important to check and adapt the water values regularly.
For each water analysis JBL provides water tests in the form of quick tests or colour change tests. These determine a certain value or several values in one go. With these water tests you can recognise algae problems and negative nitrate, nitrite, potassium, magnesium values etc.
Why test? The well-being of aquarium and pond dwellers and the growth of aquatic plants depend to a large extent on the O2 level being kept as constant as possible. Oxygen is the “elixir of life” for all animal organisms. All animals in the aquarium and pond need oxygen to breathe. But the “invisible helpers” in the aquarium and pond, the bacteria that break down pollutants, also depend on sufficient supplies of oxygen in order to be able to carry out their useful activities. In aquariums and ponds with little or no planting and in marine aquariums the oxygen content always needs to be kept at an adequate balance using technical equipment. The water absorbs oxygen through the water surface. The more the surface is moving the more oxygen is absorbed. In case of dying algae and during the use of many medications the oxygen content in the water needs to be increased.
JBL K Potassium Test Set - Quick test to determine the potassium content in freshwater
Simple and reliable control of water values.
Checks the freshwater aquarium fertilisation by determining the ideal potassium value
Quick test: fill cuvette with sample water, add reagents, fill turbid sample water into special glass vial until underlying cross is no longer visible, read filled in quantity. This value is equivalent to the potassium content in mg/l
Use with diatom problems
Healthy aquariums with conditions close to natureThe right water values are dependent on the fish stock and the plants in the aquarium. Even if the water looks clear it can be contaminated. With bad values diseases or algae can appear in the aquarium. To maintain a healthy aquarium with conditions close to nature it is important to check and adapt the water values regularly.
For each water analysis JBL provides water tests in the form of quick tests or colour change tests. These determine a certain value or several values in one go. With these water tests you can recognise algae problems and negative nitrate, nitrite, potassium, magnesium values etc.
Why test?Potassium is one of the macroelements which plants in freshwater absorb quickly and effectively within a few hours and can also store for a limited time. Growing plants require more potassium than other elements. As a result, potassium concentrations can drop to a minimum range, causing plant growth to stagnate, even if the aquarium water is fertilised regularly. Potassium levels in mains water are usually too low compared to those in natural biotopes, particularly with relation to calcium and magnesium concentrations.

Application for plant growth problems
Healthy aquarium with natural conditionsThe correct water values in the aquarium depend on the fish population and the plants present. Even if the water looks clear, it may be contaminated. If the values are poor, diseases or algae can form in the aquarium. Regular monitoring and adjustment of the water values is important for a healthy aquarium with near-natural conditions.
JBL offers water tests in the form of rapid tests or colour change tests for every water analysis. These determine a specific value or several values simultaneously. With these water tests, algae problems can be recognised and negative nitrate, nitrite, potassium, magnesium values etc. can be determined.
Why test?Together with calcium, magnesium forms the total hardness. Along with potassium, magnesium is one of the macroelements required by plants for healthy and vigorous growth. Tap water often contains too little magnesium for aquatic plants, which can quickly lead to deficiency symptoms. Despite regular fertilisation of the aquarium water, too little magnesium may be available and the plants may stagnate in their growth.

JBL ProScan - Water analysis via smartphone app
JBL ProScan - Water analysis with evaluation via smartphone app
With JBL Pro Scan, the current aquarium water values can be determined quickly and easily via smartphone app. All you need to do is install the free JBL app from the Apple AppStore or Google PlayStore on your smartphone.
Basic set:
Contains 24 analysis strips (GH, KH, pH, nitrite, nitrate, chlorine and CO₂ calculation) with associated JBL ProScan ColorCard.
The colour chart serves as a reference when scanning the analysis strip.
The result is evaluated and, if necessary, instructions are displayed on how the water values can be optimised.
The corresponding app is available free of charge.
Refill set:
24 analysis strips for digital evaluation with the JBL ProScan app.
Depending on the area of application, the app can be used in "Aquarium fresh water", "Garden pond water" and "Water" mode. If "Aquarium freshwater" and "Water" are selected, the app also automatically calculates the current CO2 content in the water from the values determined for pH and KH.
Based on the results of the analysis, the app provides specific recommendations for action and information on how to achieve ideal water values. The "Water" function only provides the pure water values.
The recording of the analysis strips and the calibration with the ColorCard should be carried out in bright daylight or artificial light. Direct sunlight should be avoided. The specified sequence of the app should always be followed during the measurement to ensure correct results. The app can be used in German and French.
Instructions for use:After starting the app for the first time, a one-off calibration using the JBL ProScan ColourCard is required. This calibration can be carried out quickly and easily by anyone. Afterwards, the water values can be analysed and evaluated immediately in conjunction with the JBL ProScan analysis strips. Immerse the analysis strip in water for 1 second, shake it off and then place it on the reference colour card (JBL ProScan ColorCard). Select the water type with the free ProScan app (in the Apple store & Google PlayStore), scan the colour card like a QR code and wait briefly for the result (waiting time is carried out by the app). The result is displayed directly in mg/l, ° hardness and the pH value. The values are evaluated by the app (good - medium - bad) and recommendations for optimisation are displayed. The type of ambient light is automatically evaluated and taken into account for colour calibration. The JBL ProScan analysis strips have been specially adapted for evaluation with the colour chart. No accuracy can be guaranteed with other test strips.
