JBL ProScan - Water analysis via smartphone app

JBL ProScan - Water analysis with evaluation via smartphone app

With JBL Pro Scan, the current aquarium water values can be determined quickly and easily via smartphone app. All you need to do is install the free JBL app from the Apple AppStore or Google PlayStore on your smartphone.

Basic set:

  • Contains 24 analysis strips (GH, KH, pH, nitrite, nitrate, chlorine and CO₂ calculation) with associated JBL ProScan ColorCard.
  • The colour chart serves as a reference when scanning the analysis strip.
  • The result is evaluated and, if necessary, instructions are displayed on how the water values can be optimised.
  • The corresponding app is available free of charge.

Refill set:

  • 24 analysis strips for digital evaluation with the JBL ProScan app.

Depending on the area of application, the app can be used in "Aquarium fresh water", "Garden pond water" and "Water" mode. If "Aquarium freshwater" and "Water" are selected, the app also automatically calculates the current CO2 content in the water from the values determined for pH and KH.

Based on the results of the analysis, the app provides specific recommendations for action and information on how to achieve ideal water values. The "Water" function only provides the pure water values.

The recording of the analysis strips and the calibration with the ColorCard should be carried out in bright daylight or artificial light. Direct sunlight should be avoided. The specified sequence of the app should always be followed during the measurement to ensure correct results. The app can be used in German and French.

Instructions for use:
After starting the app for the first time, a one-off calibration using the JBL ProScan ColourCard is required. This calibration can be carried out quickly and easily by anyone. Afterwards, the water values can be analysed and evaluated immediately in conjunction with the JBL ProScan analysis strips. Immerse the analysis strip in water for 1 second, shake it off and then place it on the reference colour card (JBL ProScan ColorCard). Select the water type with the free ProScan app (in the Apple store & Google PlayStore), scan the colour card like a QR code and wait briefly for the result (waiting time is carried out by the app). The result is displayed directly in mg/l, ° hardness and the pH value. The values are evaluated by the app (good - medium - bad) and recommendations for optimisation are displayed. The type of ambient light is automatically evaluated and taken into account for colour calibration. The JBL ProScan analysis strips have been specially adapted for evaluation with the colour chart. No accuracy can be guaranteed with other test strips.

Aquarium Starter Rapid
Dennerle Aquarium Starter RapidMixed culture of live cleaning and filter bacteria.Concentrate for rapid, biological activation of filter material and substrate in the aquariumFor a quick and safe aquarium startWith a guaranteed 500 million bacteria per milliliter when filledRemoves toxins (e.g. ammonia, nitrite) quickly and efficientlyFirst fish stocking possible after just 24 hoursMixed culture from living cleaning and filter bacteriaDennerle Aquarium Starter Rapid is a highly effective product for the fast, safe start of newly set up aquariums. It consists of two components:1. live filter bacteria - they settle on filter material and gravel and immediately start breaking down pollutants. The bacteria solution is highly concentrated, with a guaranteed 500 million bacteria per milliliter (when bottled).2. bacteria booster nutrient solution - the specially developed "bacteria food" ensures rapid growth and reproduction. Mode of action: Powerful nitrifying bacteria (Nitrosomonas, Nitrobacter) convert dangerous ammonia via nitrite into nitrate and thus detoxify the water Denitrifying bacteria (Paracoccus) convert nitrate into gaseous nitrogen in the anaerobic areas of the aquarium - especially in the substrate and filter - and thus reduce the nitrate content. At the same time, the filter bacteria break down plant and food residues, fish excrement, organic turbidity, proteins, fats, carbohydrates, organic pollutants and organic sludge.Dosage and application1. filter starter bacteria: Dosage: 100 ml for 50 - 100 L of aquarium water. Add half of the starter bacteria to the filter material and the other half to the aquarium water (25 °C).2. bacteria booster nutrient solution 1st day: 50 ml per 100 L aquarium water (25 ml / 50 L) 2nd - 6th day: 10 ml per 100 L aquarium water (5 ml / 50 L) Do not overdose!

Salvinia auriculata (Salvinia auriculata)
Salvinia auriculataSalvinia Auriculata (Brazilian salvinia) is a floating plant native to South America. It grows moderately quickly so that its population can be controlled. Easy to grow. Absorbs nitrogen to combat algae. Propagates by spreading.Difficulty of cultivation: easy to mediumLight requirement: medium to highCO₂ requirement: lowHeight of the adult plant: 0.5 cmGrowth: moderate to fastTemperature: 22 - 24°CPlacement in the aquarium: SurfaceOrigin: South and Central AmericaCup diameter 6 cmSalvinia Auriculata (Brazilian Salvinia) is a floating ornamental plant. It is native to the calm, still waters of South and Central America. It can be found from Paraguay to Cuba. It owes its popularity above all to its original appearance. Its small oval leaves with a diameter of 10 mm cm are arranged opposite each other on an elongated leaf stalk. These leaves are covered with fine hairs that trap air bubbles, allowing them to float. Depending on the light intensity, they are wavy or flat. Salvinia forms a third type of underwater leaves on which the spores are deposited.Like all floating plants, Salvinia is recommended for shady waters . Its great appetite for nitrogen and phosphorus compounds makes this plant a good ally in the fight against algae. Salvinia has low light and nutrient requirements. It grows well in both moderate and strong light. As a floating plant, it does not require a substrate but draws all the necessary nutrients directly from the water. During the vegetation period, it reproduces by spreading, whereby the growth rate is moderate. This makes it easy to control its growth and remove excess plants. It grows to a length of 3-6 cm and likes warm, humid air, so it is advisable to use a glass or cover when growing it.It should be placed in such a way that no condensation falls on the plants. It adapts very quickly to the new parameters. However, it should be borne in mind that it will die if there is too little light. It thrives best in soft to medium-hard water at 22-24°C. The in vitro culture of plants is carried out in tissue culture laboratories. Thanks to the sterile production conditions, the cuttings are free from snails, algae or pathogens.Planting:The plant must be removed from the cup and thoroughly rinsed of the gel under running water. This is best done by placing the plant in a container of lukewarm water. Most of the gel will then fall off by itself. Place the plant on the surface of the water.

Hemianthus callitrichoides Cuba - Dwarf baby tears
Hemianthus callitrichoides Cuba (Dwarf - Pearlwort) max. growth height 3 - 5 cm Country of origin Central America Suitability NanoCube, aquascaping, community aquarium Type Stolons family Scrophulariaceae Genus Hemianthus Propagation Division Growth rate medium pH 5 - 8 Water hardness 0 - 20 °dh Notes   The Cuban Pearlwort was only discovered a few years ago in a stream on the island of Cuba . Due to its leaves, which are only a few millimetres in size, this Hemianthus is considered the smallest aquarium plant in the world. In terms of water parameters, the Pearlwort is very adaptable; however, very good lighting and a good supply of CO2 are essential. Plants grown emersed are divided into small pieces and planted in batches. Within a few weeks, this creates a dense carpet in the foreground. An aquarium layout combined with a rock landscape looks very decorative and natural.

It was Takashi Amano who first introduced this floating moss to the aquarium hobby. In many of his designs, Riccia can be admired as a foreground plant. Cultivation and care are very simple: the moss clumps are tied onto stones or roots, where they can grow beautifully. The compact growth habit is maintained if the light green clumps are trimmed with scissors from time to time. CO₂ 2 -supplementation significantly promotes growth.Aquatic plants in vitroIn vitro plants are cultivated in the laboratory under sterile conditions. They are supplied in a 7cm closed container. The small plants are completely free of algae and snails and can be planted directly. This product group is ideal for smaller aquariums and nano cubes as well as for modern aquascaping. The corresponding app is available free of charge. Refill set: 24 analysis strips for digital evaluation with the JBL ProScan app. JBL Ammonium Test NH4
Variant: Test set | Variant (2): Test set
JBL NH4 Ammonium Test - Rapid Test for determining the ammonium/ammonia content in fresh/sea water aquariums & ponds Simple and safe control of water values in aquariums/ponds. Determination of the optimum ammonium/ammonia value for filter control for freshwater and seawater Laboratory comparator system: fill plastic cuvette with sample water, add reagents to cuvette, place cuvettes in holder, read off values on colour chart, read off in pH-NH4 table how much ammonium turns into toxic ammonia Duration of use: For new freshwater set-up: 1x daily. For new marine water set-up: 1x weekly. For fish diseases or fish mortality. 1 rapid test, ammonium test NH4. Contents for approx. 50 measurements. Incl. 3 reagents, 2 glass cuvettes with screw cap, syringe, comparator block and colour scale. Healthy aquarium/healthy pond with near-natural conditionsThe correct water values in the aquarium/pond depend on the fish population and the plants present. Even if the water looks clear, it may be contaminated. If the values are poor, diseases or algae can form in the aquarium/pond. For a healthy aquarium/pond with near-natural conditions, regular monitoring and adjustment of the water values is important. Why test? The decomposition or mineralisation process of all organic substances in the aquarium and pond takes place via the following stages: Proteins > Ammonium > Nitrite > Nitrate. By measuring the stages, statements can be made about the "functioning" of the aquarium or pond system. If the ammonium or nitrite value is too high, this can lead to a disturbance in the bacterial balance. As a rule, ammonium will not be measurable in a well-maintained aquarium with an efficient biological filter or in a properly designed garden pond. Ammonium is an important plant nutrient and is not normally toxic to fish. Depending on the pH value, however, the ammonium ion can turn into ammonia, which is toxic to fish.

JBL CO2 Direct Freshwater
Variant: Test set | Variant (2): Test set
JBL CO₂ Direct Test Set - Quick test to determine the carbon dioxide content in freshwater aquariums, CO2 Direct Test-Set Simple and reliable control of the water values of aquariums. Determines the optimal carbon dioxide content for fresh and saltwater aquariums Colour change test: fill plastic cuvette with sample water, add reagent drop by drop until colour changes. Number of drops = level of carbon dioxide content To use: in case of green algae problems, non-growing plants or fish mortality: once a week Healthy aquariums with conditions close to natureThe right water values are dependent on the fish stock and the plants in the aquarium. Even if the water looks clear it can be contaminated. With bad values diseases or algae can appear in the aquarium. To maintain a healthy aquarium with conditions close to nature it is important to check and adapt the water values regularly. For each water analysis JBL provides water tests in the form of quick tests or colour change tests. These determine a certain value or several values in one go. With these water tests you can recognise algae problems and negative nitrate, nitrite, potassium, magnesium values etc. Why test?Carbon dioxide is the most important plant nutrient. The optimal value lies between 20-25 mg/l. This level is harmless for fish and ensures thriving plant growth.

JBL NO2 nitrite test
Variant: Test set | Variant (2): Test set
JBL NO2 Nitrite Test rapid test for determining the nitrite content in fresh/sea water aquariums & ponds Despite careful water care, it can happen that your water is contaminated. With this quick test set you can check the nitrite content in freshwater and saltwater aquariums and ponds. Simple and safe control of water values in aquariums and ponds. Determination of the optimum nitrite value for filter control for fresh and salt water Laboratory comparator system to compensate for inherent water coloration: Fill plastic cuvette with sample water, add reagents to a cuvette, place cuvette in holder, read values on color chart Duration of use: For new freshwater set-up: 3 weeks daily. For new marine water: once a week. For fish diseases or fish mortality 1 rapid test, nitrite test NO2. Contents for approx. 50 measurements. Incl. 2 reagents, 2 glass cuvettes with screw cap, syringe, comparator block and color scale. Refill reagent available separately Healthy aquarium / healthy pond with near-natural conditionsThe correct water values in the aquarium/pond depend on the fish population and the plants present. Even if the water looks clear, it may be contaminated. If the values are poor, diseases or algae can form in the aquarium/pond. For a healthy aquarium/pond with near-natural conditions, it is important to regularly check and adjust the water values. JBL offers water tests in the form of rapid tests or color change tests for every water analysis. These determine a specific value or several values simultaneously. With these water tests, algae problems can be detected and negative nitrate, nitrite, potassium, magnesium values etc. can be determined. Why test:Nitrite is produced when bacteria break down protein and ammonium. It is normally further processed into non-toxic nitrate. Nitrite (NO2) should not be measurable in aquarium and pond water. If nitrite is nevertheless measurable, the bacterial degradation process is disturbed and from a concentration of 0.4 mg/l it becomes dangerous or even fatal for fish, as nitrite blocks the oxygen transport in the blood of the animals. Water changes and good bacterial starters such as JBL Denitrol or JBL BactoPond can help.
