Inside the diffuser is a special membrane through which the CO₂ diffuses into the aquarium water, which is pumped back into the aquarium by the external filter. The tiny CO2 bubbles dissolve excellently in the water and save about 20% compared to other CO₂ diffusers. The direct diffuser should be integrated into the hose as close as possible to the external filter tank to extend the distance of the CO₂ in the hose as much as possible. What is a CO2 system?
A CO₂ system for an aquarium is an aquarium technology that releases carbon dioxide (CO₂) into the aquarium water to promote the growth of aquatic plants. These systems are used to create optimal conditions for plant growth, especially in well-planted Holland aquariums or aqua scape.
A CO2 system consists of the cylinder in which the gas is stored, the pressure reducer and the hose that feeds the gas into the aquarium. The amount of gas can be controlled with the bubble counter. The diffuser is then used to distribute the CO2 in the water.
A CO2 system can be controlled manually or automatically, depending on the needs of the aquarist and the complexity of the system.
The addition of CO2 promotes plant growth, improves the colourfulness of the plants and creates a healthy and lively underwater environment overall.
However, it is important to monitor and adjust the CO2 supply accordingly to avoid overdosing, which could harm fish and other organisms in the aquarium.
When do you need an automatic feeder in the aquarium?
Automatic feeders take over the feeding of ornamental fish while you are away. This means you can go on holiday with peace of mind and the fish are well looked after.
Start up the automatic feeder two weeks before you go on holiday. This allows you to monitor the amount of food and if too much food is fed into the aquarium, you can change the water.
It makes sense to install an automatic feeder during your holiday, even if your neighbour is feeding. Otherwise, there is usually more than enough food and the balance in the aquarium is upset.
Automatic feeders are available from JBL, EHEIM, Sera, Aquael and Superfish. Depending on the requirements, different types of food can also be added.
What technology do I need for an aquarium?
The basic equipment for an aquarium includes an aquarium filter that purifies the water. A heating rod is necessary for aquariums containing tropical ornamental fish that are used to temperatures above 22 °C. An aquarium also needs lighting.
