Der siamesische Kampffisch ist ein weltweit bekannter Aquarium Bewohner, er kommt ursprünglich aus Thailand besser gesagt aus Südostasien.
Lebensraum:
Kampffische leben in kleinen warmen Tümpeln, Teichen, Seen, in Reisfeldern sowie Überschwemmungsgebieten und Lagunen.Die Kampffische nutzen die dichte Vegetation, um sich von Fressfeinden zu schützen.
Haltung:
Das Kampffisch Aquarium weist ein Volumen von 20 bis 25 Liter auf und geht somit unter die Kategorie der Nano Aquarien.Zudem sollte man bei der Beckenauswahl darauf achten, dass die Höhe nicht über 40 cm kommt, da der Kampffisch nicht die Kraft dazu hat sehr hoch zu schwimmen, um Luft zu holen.Da Kampffische sehr gemütliche und langsame Tiere sind, empfiehlt es sich nicht eine stark strömende Pumpe einzubauen. Kampffische brauchen wenig bis gar keine Strömung. Die heutigen Zuchtformen haben teils so grosse Flossen das der Kampffisch nicht lange am Stück schwimmen kann, da er schnell erschöpft.Die Kampffischmännchen muss man Einzeln halten, da wie der Name schon sagt: Sie Kämpfen und das bis zum Tode. Die Weibchen hingegen kann man in Gruppen halten. Die Kampffisch-Zucht ist wiederum schwieriger da es auch dort teils zu Streitereien kommen kann.Kampffische sollte man so abwechslungsreich wie möglich füttern. Empfehlenswert ist, dass man auch mal Lebend und Frostfutter anbietet wie zum Beispiel Mückenlarven, Wasserflöhe und Artemia.
Sie besetzen ein Revier, welches sie Regelmässig abschwimmen. Ist das Revier zu gross, fühlt sich ein Kampffisch nicht wohl, da er schnell den Überblick verliert.
Von der Vergesellschaftung mit anderen Fischen ist abzuraten, da sich die Kampffische gestresst fühlen oder zu wenig Futter erhalten. Man kann sie am besten mit Schnecken vergesellschaften.
Kampffische mögen Becken, die stark bepflanzt sind, da dies Versteckmöglichkeiten bietet und sich der Kampffisch auch mal in den Pflanzen ausruhen kann. Es ist wichtig, dass nicht die ganze Wasseroberfläche mit Pflanzen bedeckt ist, da der Kampffisch ein Labyrinth Fisch ist, und an der Wasseroberfläche Luft saugt.
Futter:
Die Kampffische sind reine Fleischfresser. Zierfischfutter mit pflanzlichen Inhaltsstoffen können den Kampffisch krank machen, deshalb ist ein Flockenfutter ausschliesslich mit Fleisch sehr ratsam.
Bei der Fütterung des Kampffisches gilt: regelmässig, aber in kleinen Mengen.
