The fine pore structure provides a large surface area for beneficial filter bacteria to colonise, which play an important role in breaking down pollutants such as ammonium/ammonia and nitrite. As a result, the filter medium supports stable biological filtration performance in the pond.
Bacteria House has a water absorption rate of 80 %. Thanks to the microscopically small pores, bacteria can colonise the material quickly and break down organic pollutants in the pond water. At the same time, the porous structure also acts mechanically, as coarser organic debris is retained and can be further broken down during the filtration process.
The filter medium is particularly well suited to Bakki Shower / trickle filters, but can also be used in other pond filters.
