Exo Terra Rain Forest is heat-treated to avoid bacterial contamination. Instructions for use:Spread a 5–10 cm thick layer of the bark on the terrarium floor. Moisten the substrate as needed to achieve the required humidity level and use an Exo Terra hygrometer to monitor. To increase humidity in well-ventilated terrariums or in terrariums where very high humidity is required, a substrate heater should be placed under the terrarium. Remove heavily soiled substrate spot-wise daily. Replace the substrate completely as needed.

Thanks to its water storage capabilities, Hydro Drain also increases humidity in the terrarium and is practical for supplying plants with sufficient groundwater. We recommend adding a layer of Hydro Drain at least 3 cm high to the terrarium and covering it with our special Hydro Fleece. The normal substrate such as terrarium humus or Jungle Bedding is then added on top. The Hydro Fleece prevents soil from seeping between the clay granules, while water can flow through without any problems. Hydro Drain is suitable for use with underfloor heating systems.
