The diet of wild tortoises always depends on the natural conditions of the vegetation. In their original habitats, the actual vegetation period is usually limited to a short period, which is replaced by drought and heat in the period from midsummer to autumn. In spring, the crude fibre content in the plants is relatively low and the protein content high. In the course of the summer the herbs and grasses "age".
