You can use the following roots as decoration in the aquarium:
Bog pine wood, bog oak, mangrove roots, dead alder and willow roots as well as wood that has been lying in clean running water for many years.
Roots are mandatory when keeping catfish, which grind off wood in the wild.
- Stones must be free of inclusions; otherwise, toxic substances may dissolve in the aquarium.
- Stones containing lime are not suitable for every type of aquarium (changes the hardness of the aquarium water).
- Wood must be well dried; otherwise rot may form, depending on the type of wood.
- Decorations made of synthetic resin can lose their colour over time.
