Westafrikanische Mantis Pseudocreobotra ocellata (Blütenmantis) Diese westafrikanische Mantis (Blütenmantis) lebt in West- und Ostafrika. Dort kommt sie im Busch- und Grasland vor, in welchem auch blühende Pflanzen vorkommen. Das Männchen lebt nach der letzten Häutung noch ca. 3-5 Monate und das Weibchen noch bis zu 10 Monaten. Nahrung Die Westafrikanische Mantis ernährt sich hauptsächlich von kleinen, fliegenden Insekten wie zum Beispiel Drosophila, Stubenfliegen oder auch Motten. Aber auch kleine Grillen, Heimchen und Schaben werden von ihr gefressen. Haltung Für die Haltung einer Westafrikanischen Mantis wird ein Terrarium mit den Massen von 30x30x45cm benötigt. Als Bodengrund ist Terrarienerde optimal. Lebende Pflanzen und Äste dürfen nicht fehlen. Die Pflanzen verbessern das Klima im Terrarium. Die Temperatur sollte zwischen 30-35°C liegen. Direkt unter der Wärmelampe kann es auch mal wärmer werden. Die Luftfeuchte sollte 50-70% betragen. Besonderes Wenn die Mantis regelmässig und gut gefüttert wird, kann man sie auch in einer Gruppe pflegen. Es müssen genug Pflanzen und Verstecke vorhanden sein. Mit Verlusten ist aber immer zu rechnen.
