Lucky Reptile Bright Sun ZOO Desert 150WThis Bright Sun version was developed especially for large terrariums where UV and also heat radiation must be brought over a large distance to the animal. The lamp has a correspondingly strong focus, so that acceptable performance is still achieved even at distances of over 100 cm. By grouping several lamps to a single point, the operating range can be further improved and species-appropriate conditions can be created in typical zoo terrariums without having to suspend lamps in a way that is disturbing for the observer. As the technical possibilities are exhausted for this extreme application, the Bright Sun Zoo unfortunately does not achieve the usual UV service life of one year and should be replaced after 6 months at the latest. Due to the extreme performance, it is imperative that the application and distance recommendations are adhered to. Lucky Reptile Bright Sun UV Desert The Bright Sun UV lamp offers everything in one: light, heat and UV. Natural lighting conditions This is particularly important as it has not yet been possible to simulate natural light conditions in the terrarium. In nature, light intensities of 100,000 lux and more are achieved. A high light intensity is particularly important for the well-being of desert dwellers and influences the colouration and activity of the animals. Although the Bright Sun 70W does not quite come close to the sun with over 60,000 lux at a distance of 30 cm, it is far ahead of mixed-light UV spotlights (approx. 10,000 lux), fluorescent lamps and spotlights. High energy efficiency The basis for this high light output is the energy efficiency of the lamp. A large proportion of the energy used is converted into light, whereas with filament lamps 95% of the energy is converted into heat. As a result, the waste heat of the lamps is low and they can also be used in smaller terrariums. Thanks to the efficient reflector design, almost all the heat generated is concentrated in the light focus, making the lamp ideal for creating warm basking areas. Optimised for desert reptiles The spectrum of the lamp has been optimised for desert reptiles. Tests have shown that reptiles from desert regions prefer a daylight spectrum with a colour temperature of approx. 6000K. This is achieved by the BrightSun UV Desert. Together with the heat and UV radiation as well as the high illuminance, the animals practically have a small mini sun in the terrarium. The expected lifespan is over 6000 hours; however, replacement is recommended after one year, as the spectrum begins to change after a certain age due to technological factors, and both UV radiation and overall light output diminish over time. The Bright Sun fits into E27 porcelain sockets, but requires a special ballast such as the Lucky Reptile Bright Control ballasts for operation.

It is essential to keep a minimum distance of 40 cm from the animal. At this distance, temperatures of over 50 °C are already reached! Thanks to a special reflector design, part of the light is strongly concentrated in the centre to achieve good UV and heat output. The remaining light, however, is diffused over a wide area and thus achieves a good illumination of the terrarium.
