Advantages of the LED technology are low energy consumption, low heat emission and a long life of the light emitting diodes. Therefore, illuminating terrariums all night long is possible, without hindering the natural nocturnal drop of temperature as with other light sources. Especially nightlight incandescent lamps consume a lot of energy and consequently produce a lot of unwanted heat as well. In addition their ability to illuminate the terrarium properly and allow nighttime viewing is limited.
The energy consumption of the LEDs in the Night Sky LED set is merely 0,2W per LED. This is the most energy efficient way to illuminate a terrarium at night.

The Night Sky LED set contains 3 moonlight LEDs and an electric transformer, with which up to 6 LEDs can be powered. Additional LEDs are available separately. The LEDs are connected to the transformer by a connector, which makes them easy to install. Mounted on the ceiling of a terrarium, they enable a well-balanced nocturnal illumination of the whole terrarium.

The power consumption is only approx. 0.5 watts. As the Moon Lamp works with efficient LEDs, it produces just the right amount of light to illuminate terrariums at night without disturbing the animals. Terrarium areas in the cone of light (e.g. a branch fork or part of the terrarium floor) are illuminated more strongly than the edges of the terrarium. This creates the impression of a moonlit clearing in the (terrarium) jungle. The Moon Lamp, which fits all E27 sockets, produces very little heat and therefore does not interfere with the night-time drop in terrarium temperature. However, as it emits much of its light in a cone, it is primarily suitable for taller terrariums. For small terrariums or for illuminating the entire terrarium at night with evenly distributed light intensity, we recommend the Lucky Reptile Night Sky LED Set.

Hobby UV-B Quick test With this test, you can easily and quickly see whether your source of UV-B rays continues to radiate them. To test this hold the card approximately 5 cm under the lamp and wait 10 seconds. A part of the card will change from white to purple, depending on the intensity of discolouration you can tell the strength of your UV rays. According to the manufacturer, this card can be used up to 500 times. Warning! Replace your UV-lamp at least yearly if not more often, this card should be used as an indicator to do so.
