The Tiger Lotus is widespread in tropical Africa and colonizes a wide variety of waters there - temporary ponds and lakes on the one hand, but also flowing waters on the other. It has a tuber as a storage organ with strong floating leaves. The most beautiful thing about this plant, however, are the submerged juvenile leaves, which do not reach the surface of the water. Of the two color forms, the red tiger lotus is the most popular among aquarists; however, its green color form is rarely found in the trade. Tiger lotus are quite undemanding, older and larger leaves are always removed at the base of the tuber.

Hygrophila corymbosa is a widespread stem plant in Southeast Asia. There are some varieties that differ in leaf shape. Generally, the emergent leaves are considerably darker in colour than in the submerged stage. The giant waterleaf is a good beginner‘s plant for the background. Its rapid growth absorbs excess nutrients and thus deprives algae of their food source. As soon as the shoots reach the water surface, they should be cut back by half. A tiered arrangement of the stems is recommended.

The large Amazonas sword plant is perhaps the most popular plant in the aquarium hobby. Its leaves are 3–6 cm wider than those of the ‘amazonicus’ variety, and the height of up to 60 cm makes this species appear even more dominant. Mature clumps, some with more than 50 leaves, are a striking feature. However, the substrate must be at least 10 cm deep for the root system to develop properly. Combined with Helanthium species (dwarf Echinodorus), beautiful South American underwater landscapes can be created.

Ideal nutrition for plantsThe right CO2 concentration in the water is of great importance for the aquarium plants. Carbon dioxide is the main nutrient for plants and promotes their growth. Plants use the CO2 for the photosynthesis and thus supply the water with essential oxygen. How it works:
The CO2 bubbles issue from the opening at the bottom of the Flipper and rise along the channels. Part of the CO2 dissolves in the aquarium water in the process. The rest accumulates in the collector, from where it is released into the water. The safe design of the collector ensures that the small quantities of CO2 which are customary for nano aquaria are effectively dissolved, while undesired large quantities of CO2 are discharged automatically via the waste gas vent. The scope of delivery thus includes 2 collectors – the smaller one for 10-25 l aquaria, and the larger one for 25-40 l aquaria.
The crucial advantage over the CO2 diffusors with ceramic membrane which are commonly used for nano aquaria is that the Nano Flipper does not produce any counterpressure. This means that it responds directly to changes on the pressure reducer. The required (small) quantity of CO2 required can thus be set reliably within a few minutes.
The CO2 Nano Flipper consists of highly transparent, break-proof plastic "Made in Germany" and can be combined with all standard CO2 supply systems. We recommend the Dennerle CO2 Nano Set.All CO2 hoses with an external diameter of 6 mm can be used.
Rule of thumb for basic setting:
Start with approx. 1 bubble per minute, per 10 l aquarium water, this means for example, approx. 3 bubbles per minute for a 30 l aquarium.The CO2 concentration is measured in the simplest possible way with the Crystal Line CO2 long-term test Mini. If the test is GREEN, the water contains exactly the right amount of CO2.
