Hinweise
Eine sehr dekorative Sorte der Vallisneria spiralis mit einer gedrehten Wuchsform. Sie wird im Handel auch als ´Schraubenvallisnerie´ bezeichnet. Mit einer Höhe von 30-50 cm bleiben die Blätter deutlich kürzer als bei der Stammform. In der Kultur ist sie ebenfalls anspruchslos, lediglich die Lichtstärke sollte etwas höher sein als bei der normalen V. spiralis. Die Sorte ´Torta´ ist für den Mittelgrund von kleinen, oder den Hintergrund von größeren Aquarien geeignet.

Die Heimat dieser Schwertpflanze ist das Amazonasgebiet in Brasilien. Sie wird auch als „Schmalblättrige Amazonas-Schwertpflanze“ bezeichnet, ist sehr gutwüchsig und in Aquarien ab 200 L zu pflegen. Die submersen Blätter sind 2-3 cm breit und flaschengrün. Für Südamerika-Bepflanzungen mit Skalaren oder Diskusfischen ist diese Art in Kombination mit anderen Echinodorus-Arten besonders gut geeignet. Ein freier, heller Standplatz fördert das vitale Wachstum und die Bildung von Blütenstanden mit Adventivpflanzen.

Die Nadelsimse Eleocharis acicularis ist weltweit verbreitet. Es ist eine besonders grazile, grasartige Pflanze für den Vordergrund. Sie liebt eher kühleres Wasser, wächst aber auch bei höheren Temperaturen noch zufrieden stellend. Durch Ausläufertriebe bildet sich nach und nach ein dichter Pflanzenteppich. Beim Einpflanzen der emers kultivierten Pflanzen empfiehlt sich ein kompletter Rückschnitt und ein Teilen des Pflanzenpolsters. Alle 5 cm werden die abgeschnittenen Wurzelstöcke eingesetzt. Schon nach wenigen Tagen treiben die ersten submersen Grashalme.

Die grosse Amazonas-Schwertpflanze ist vielleicht die beliebteste Pflanze in der Aquaristik. Ihre Blätter sind mit 3-6 cm breiter als bei der ´amazonicus´ und die Wuchshöhe bis zu 60 cm lässt diese Art noch dominanter erscheinen. Ältere Büsche mit z. T. mehr als 50 Blättern sind ein imposanter Blickfang. Der Bodengrund muss aber mindestens 10 cm hoch sein, damit das Wurzelwerk sich entsprechend entfalten kann. In Kombination mit Helanthium-Arten (Zwergechinodorus) gelingen wunderschöne Südamerika-Unterwasserlandschaften.
