Product information "ME Carbo Ultra Flex, CO₂ system (without cylinder)"
ME Carbo Ultra Flex – CO₂ system without a cylinder for tanks up to 400 litres
ME Carbo Ultra Flex CO₂ system (without cylinder) for aquariums up to 400 litres. Includes pressure regulator, solenoid valve, diffuser and continuous CO₂ test. Suitable for disposable and reusable cylinders.
The ME Carbo Ultra Flex is a high-quality CO₂ fertilisation system designed to supply aquatic plants with carbon dioxide in a targeted manner. This well-designed system was developed for demanding plant aquariums and aquascapes and is suitable for freshwater aquariums with a volume of up to 400 litres.
Carbon dioxide (CO₂) is an important component of photosynthesis, alongside light and nutrients. A CO₂ supply tailored to your plants’ needs supports healthy plant growth, strong leaves and vibrant plant colours. Controlled CO₂ fertilisation can make a significant difference, particularly in heavily planted aquariums with powerful lighting.
At the heart of the system is the ME Regulator Ultra pressure reducer with an integrated solenoid valve. It allows for precise adjustment of the CO₂ supply and offers the option of automatically interrupting the gas supply during the night. The solenoid valve can, for example, be connected to a timer for this purpose.
The integrated bubble counter with non-return valve makes it easier to monitor the CO₂ dosage. The desired number of bubbles can be set using the fine-adjustment needle valve, whilst two pressure gauges display the cylinder pressure and the set operating pressure.
The CO₂ Diffuser Pro L, included as standard, ensures the fine distribution of carbon dioxide in the aquarium. It releases the gas into the water in the form of tiny bubbles, thereby promoting the most efficient possible dissolution of CO₂.
To monitor the CO₂ concentration, the set includes a CO₂ Check Glass continuous test kit with 15 ml of test liquid. The colour change of the indicator liquid allows for easy monitoring and helps you adjust the CO₂ supply to the actual needs of your aquatic plants.
A particular advantage of the ME Carbo Ultra Flex is its flexibility. Thanks to the adapter supplied, the system can be used with both suitable disposable CO₂ cylinders and reusable cylinders. This allows the system to be adapted to different aquarium sizes and existing CO₂ set-ups.
The ME Carbo Ultra Flex offers a convenient solution for aquarists who value a precise, reliable and individually adjustable CO₂ supply.
Important: The CO₂ cylinder is not included and must be purchased separately.

Instructions for use
Place a suitable disposable or reusable CO₂ cylinder upright in a safe and well-ventilated location near the aquarium. The cylinder must be secured to prevent it from falling over.
Fit the Regulator Ultra pressure reducer to the CO₂ cylinder in accordance with the enclosed operating instructions. If necessary, use the supplied adapter for disposable cylinders.
Connect the pressure reducer to the Diffuser Pro L using the CO₂ hose. Position the diffuser as low as possible in the aquarium, in an area with sufficient water movement, so that the carbon dioxide is distributed effectively throughout the water.
Next, adjust the operating pressure and CO₂ dosage using the fine-control needle valve. Start with a low bubble count and gradually increase the supply in line with your plants’ requirements.
The included CO₂ continuous test kit indicates the approximate CO₂ concentration in the water via the colour change of the test liquid. Check the value regularly and adjust the dosage as required.
The integrated solenoid valve can be connected to a suitable timer to automatically interrupt the CO₂ supply during the night.
Important safety instructions
- Always position CO₂ cylinders upright and secure them to prevent them from falling over
- Only use suitable and approved CO₂ cylinders
- Check the connections for leaks before commissioning
- Do not use oil- or grease-based lubricants on pressure connections
- Adjust the CO₂ supply slowly and in a controlled manner
- Monitor the CO₂ concentration regularly
- Protect your fish immediately if there are signs of CO₂ overdose
- Shut off the gas supply and disconnect the power supply before carrying out any maintenance work
Zoo Roco Tip
A well-balanced CO₂ supply is particularly important in heavily planted aquariums and demanding aquascapes. To ensure your aquatic plants can grow optimally, the lighting, CO₂ and nutrient supply should be as well-balanced as possible.
For many planted community aquariums, the target CO₂ level is around 20–30 mg/l, provided that the fish and shrimp population can tolerate this concentration. Check the levels regularly using the continuous test kit supplied.
Our tip: Connect the built-in solenoid valve to a timer and synchronise the CO₂ supply with the lighting schedule. This allows you to conveniently control the supply to your plants and avoid unnecessary CO₂ addition during the night.
Thanks to its flexible connection options, the ME Carbo Ultra Flex is particularly suitable for aquarists who already own a suitable CO₂ cylinder or wish to switch between disposable and refillable cylinders at a later date.
