How do I clean a filter?

The interval between filter cleaning depends heavily on the type of filter, the filter volume and also the number of fish kept in the aquarium.

It is certainly important that filter cleaning and water changes are not carried out at the same time, otherwise the balance in the aquarium will be disturbed too much.

Replace the filter floss. The other filter media do not have to be replaced every time, but can also be washed out (read on the filter medium how long the respective medium can be used).

Wash the filter medium in a kettle of aquarium water and not under the tap. This preserves some of the bacteria. Never wash all the filter media at once - it is advisable to draw up a cleaning schedule.

When cleaning, also remove the rotor and clean the motor.
