How big should a bird enclosure be?

A large enclosure contributes significantly to the well-being of the birds, as it allows them to fulfil their natural urge to move around. Ideally, the enclosed habitat offers enough space not only for hopping and climbing, but also for flying. Depending on the bird species, enclosure sizes of 100 cm or more are recommended. This is the case for ornamental birds such as budgerigars, canaries, zebra finches or lovebirds. For large parakeets such as cockatiels, we recommend an aviary with a length of 120 cm.
