Thesi is our absolute expert when it comes to keeping birds. She has bred budgerigars, cockatiels, agapornids and finches in six large aviaries for many years and therefore has a wealth of experience that she is happy to share with our customers.
Our name also comes from the red-cheeked macaw that Thesi had at home for a long time - the Roco.
In addition to 20 years of teaching trainees in the pet trade, many years of experience as a breeder and a great passion for ornamental birds, nobody can imagine a shop without birdsong.

Why can a bird fly?
Almost all birds, with a few exceptions such as ostriches and penguins, can fly. The prerequisite for flight is a light bone structure. The bones are hollow and therefore light. Feathers are unique in the animal kingdom and provide the flight surface so that birds can also glide. Birds, especially good flyers, have an aerodynamic body shape.
What legal regulations must be observed?
Individual keeping is not permitted!
- Social species must be kept socially
- All birds must be offered bathing facilities.
- The enclosures must be structured with various, springy perches of different thicknesses and orientations, whereby one third of -
- the volume must be free of structures.
- All birds must be provided with suitable sand for perching.
- The private keeping of certain bird species is subject to authorisation (wildlife licence)
Wo sind die Vögel in der Systematik eingeteilt?
Systematisch gesehen, gehören alle im Handel angebotenen Vögel, mit wenigen Ausnahmen (z.B. Wachteln, Tauben) zu den zwei grossen Ordnungen der Papageienvögel = Psittaciden (umgangssprachlich: Krummschnäbler) und der Sperlingsvögel (umgangssprachlich: Exoten).
Die Sperlingsvögel werden dann noch in fein- und starkschnäblige Arten unterteilt.
