Wooden squirrel nest for hanging in the garden
This nesting box gives squirrels their own place to live, sleep or use as a pantry. Squirrels' nests are called cobles.
The animals usually create several nests with different functions such as living, sleeping or as a pantry.
In case of danger, they can quickly move to another nest. It is advisable to hang at least two burrows within sight of each other.
It is characteristic of a squirrel nest box that it has several entrances and exits. It is very important that at least one is close to a tree trunk. This gives the squirrels a feeling of security. If danger threatens, the animals can quickly escape from the nest box.
Place the nest box as high up in a tree as possible and, if possible, in a forked branch. Orient the box towards the south-east.
Encouraging wildlife
By placing a squirrel nest box in your garden, you are actively helping to protect and promote native wildlife. Watch the lively squirrels frolicking in and around the house and enjoy the joy these little creatures bring to your garden.
