Repty®clay ist ein Lehmpulver, welches mit Terrariensanden gemischt wird. Danach kann der Sand – mit Wasser vermengt - modelliert werden, um Höhlen und Tunnelsysteme anzulegen. Durch Erhitzen im Backofen können modellierte Teile hart gebrannt werden. Es ist ein sehr feines Lehmpulver.

Ihr Lebensraum liegt jedoch in der Wildnis dicht bei anderen Artgenossen. Die Männchen besetzen ein Territorium, das mehrere Quadratmeter umfasst. Sie Sitzen und nicken häufig. Sie halten sich auch gerne in besiedelten und landwirtschaftlichen Gebieten auf.
Die passende Tarnfärbung und die Stachelschuppen tragen dazu bei, dass die Konturen der Bartagamen sich ihrer Umgebung anpassen.
Haltung:
Bei der Haltung von Bartagamen ist die Temperatur und die Luftfeuchtigkeit sehr wichtig. Die Temperatur am Tag liegt durchschnittlich zwischen 30° bis 35 °C. Die Bartagame sollte allerdings verschiedene Temperaturzonen haben zwischen denen Sie wechseln kann. In der Nacht darf die Temperatur auf maximal 20 °C runter Kühlen. Die Luftfeuchtigkeit ist optimal zwischen 30 % bis 40 %. Man sollte nicht langfristig über 40 % Luftfeuchtigkeit haben, da es so zu Hautpilzerkrankungen kommen könnte.
Welche Terrariengrösse für Bartagame?Wir als Zoofachhandel empfehlen grundsätzlich je grösser umso besser. 150 × 60 × 100 cm ist aber das Minimum. Je höher je besser, Bartagamen lieben es, zu sonnen.Die Bartagamen können sehr gut einzeln gehalten werden. Nur in ausreichender Grösse und gut strukturierten Terrarien ist auch eine Haltung von einem kleinem Harem (ein Männchen mit 2-3Weibchen) oder einer reinen Weibchengruppe möglich.
Futter:
Die Bartagamen sind sogenannte Omnivore Tiere (Allesfresser). Sie benötigen genauso frisches Grünfutter wie auch Insekten. Man muss sehr vorsichtig sein bei zu viel Insekten dies führt leider vermehrt zu Übergewicht. Je älter die Bartagame wird umso mehr werden sie zu Vegetarier und verweigern teilweise auch ganz die Insekten.

Wichtig ist immer, dass man bei der Einrichtung die Abstände von Lampen zur Einrichtung beachtet, da die Bartagamen Wechselwarme Tiere sind, merken diese es meist zu spät, wenn sie schon eine Verbrennung haben.Die Luftfeuchtigkeit sollte am Tag zwischen 30 % bis 40 % liegen, Nachts zwischen 50 % bis 60 %.
Als Bodengrund bei den Zwergbartagamen sollte die Möglichkeit geboten werden zu graben. Als Bodengrund kommt deshalb eine dicke Lehm-Sandschicht infrage.
Das Terrarium sollte ein Mindestmass von 120 cm x 60 cm x 8 cm für zwei Tiere betragen.
