A very decorative and new plant in the aquarium hobby is the stream buttercup Ranunculus inundatus. In its natural location in Australia, this plant grows in damp habitats, sometimes in the shallow water of ponds and lakes. The most striking feature is the beautifully shaped leaves in the form of a slit umbrella. Similar to Hydrocotyle species, the plant constantly produces runners. These usually creep along the substrate and produce new leaf stalks at the nodes. In this way, beautiful groups of plants with a very ornamental appearance gradually develop. Ranunculus inundatus is a high-light plant and therefore also requires a higher nutrient supply.
