The set contains a high-quality mix of Triops and fairy shrimp eggs (approx. 100 eggs in sand). The species included may include, amongst others, Triops longicaudatus, T. cancriformis, as well as Brazilian or Thai fairy shrimp. Easy to care for & ideal for small aquariums

Triops and fairy shrimp are hardy, easy-to-care-for prehistoric crustaceans and are ideal for beginners. A small aquarium with a capacity of at least 2 litres is sufficient to observe their entire life cycle.

Triops grow up to 7 cm in size
Fairy shrimp grow to approx. 2.5 cm

At temperatures between 20–26 °C and in soft water, the tiny nauplii hatch and, with good care, live for around 2–3 months.

Breeding cycle – New generations time and time again

Triops lay their eggs in the substrate, whilst fairy shrimp simply drop them onto the ground. Once the animals’ life cycle is complete, the sand can be dried and reused – giving rise to the next generation of prehistoric crabs.

Tip: One batch can be used several times, as the eggs never all hatch at the same time.

Important information

The hatching rate depends on temperature, water parameters and light.
The colours are mixed at random – they may be brown, green, blue or red.
The creatures need light and a temperature of 21–26 °C to hatch.
Suitable lighting and heaters are available separately.
