Cichlids are an incredibly diverse group of fish with 1700 species. They range in size from a few centimeters (checkerboard cichlid) to 80 cm crenicichla species. All cichlids practice brood care. Their food spectrum ranges from microorganisms to plants and other fish. Therefore it is important to be well informed about the species kept in the aquarium! JBL PRONOVO CICHLID S has been specially developed for smaller species up to about 10/12 cm in length. The most common of these species kept in the aquarium are Microgeophagus, Apistogramma, Pelvicachromis, Pelmatochromis, Nannacara, Nanochromis, Crenicara, Laetacara, Dicrossus and Ivanacara. Earth eaters of the genera Geophagus and Satanoperca grow larger, but also prefer rather smaller food, which they pick out of the sand (hence the name Earth eater). JBL PRONOVO CICHLID M is suitable for all medium-sized cichlids from 8 to 20 cm. This includes many species of the genera Cichlasoma, Acarichthys, Aequidens, Thorichthys, Amalatitlania, Crytoheros, Heros, Andinocara, Pterophyllum, Uaru and many more.
JBL PRONOVO CICHLID XL is then ideal for the big guys between 15 and 25 cm. These include many species of the genera Crenicichla, Cichla, Amphilophus, Astronotus, Mayaheros, Cichlasoma, Rocio and several others.

Alternanthera reineckii 'Purple' (Purple parrot leaf)
Alternanthera reineckii 'Purple'Purple' is the largest variety of Alternanthera Reineckii. The red colored leaves make it a great plant for accenting.Difficulty of cultivation: difficultLight requirements: highCO₂ requirements: highHeight of mature plants: 20-50 cmGrowth: mediumTemperature: 20-28°CPlacement in aquarium: middle ground or backgroundOrigin: South America6 cm cup diameterAlternanthera Reineckii 'Purple' is a demanding plant for advanced aquarists. It should receive a fertile substrate, strong lighting, an additional supply of carbon dioxide and a full feeding in the form of liquid fertilizer. However, even under favorable conditions, its growth is very slow. Alternanthera Reineckii 'Purple' is a secondary or tertiary plant. The top of the leaf blades are reddish brown, while the undersides range from purple to violet to dark red. The mature plant can grow up to 50 cm tall, but usually reaches no more than 20-30 cm in height. It spreads laterally by lateral stolons. To obtain cuttings, 7 cm long cut stems are inserted into the ground It presents best in the second or third level. In nature, it is a swamp plant that occurs in South America. The best growth results are obtained when it is planted in an active substrate. The growth rate depends on the carbon dioxide concentration in the aquarium water. It prefers soft to hard water with a pH of 6 to 8. It depends on the availability of macronutrients in the water column and is sensitive to macronutrient deficiencies resulting in the loss of leaves in the lower part of the stem. Plant it in closely spaced clumps. As it grows, it will form a compact group of adult plants. Prune the plant regularly with sharp scissors. Frequent pruning helps the plant compact and grow. To maintain the dark red color of the foliage, the plant must be well exposed to light. In optimal light, it grows densely and the internodes are short, making it look much more attractive. It makes an interesting contrast to the many green plants in the aquarium. In open aquariums it grows easily to the water surface.Planting: The plant must be removed from the cup and thoroughly rinsed from the gel under running water. This is best done by placing the plant in a container of lukewarm water. Most of the gel will then fall off by itself. Divide the contents of the cup into 3-4 cm lumps and then place them in the substrate..

Hygrophila sp. 'Tiger
Hygrophila sp. Tiger Hygrophila sp. Tiger is a decorative plant with narrow, red colored leaves. It grows rather tall, making it suitable for the second or third level of an aquarium.Difficulty of growing: easyLight requirement: mediumCO₂ requirement: moderateHeight of mature plant: up to 40 cmGrowth rate: FastTemperature: 20-30°CPlacement in aquarium: third and second levelsOrigin: Asia6 cm cup diameterHygrophila sp. 'Tiger' is a decorative aquatic plant that belongs to the Acanthaceae or acanthus family. The species gets its name from the interesting markings on the leaves, which can be reddish brown or brownish green depending on the light intensity in the aquarium. A pronounced marbled pattern can be seen on the upper surface of the leaves. The exact origin of the plant is not entirely clear, it is a variety that is relatively new to aquaristics and probably originated in Asia. The habit of this plant is very similar to Hygrophila polysperma, both also show similar requirements and grow about the same size. Hygrophila sp. Tiger is an easy to care for plant, so it is recommended for beginners in aquaristics. It is a narrow-leaved, tall-growing stem plant that tolerates a very wide range of aquarium conditions. It has no special requirements for pH or water hardness. It tolerates a temperature of 20 to 30 °C.With good light conditions and an adequate supply of macro and micro elements, you can be sure that this plant will color impressively. It will look spectacular and provide a red background for the other species in the tank. If conditions are favorable for the plant, it will maintain a compact growth and take on the appearance of an underwater minibush. In order for Hygrophila to continue to spread, it can be pruned regularly.Planting: The plant must be removed from the cup and thoroughly rinsed from the gel under running water. This is best done by placing the plant in a container of lukewarm water. Most of the gel will then fall off by itself. Divide the contents of the cup into 1-2 cm lumps and then place them at a small distance on the selected items.

Myriophyllum mattogrossense
Myriophyllum MattogrossenseMyriophyllum Mattogrossense, also known as red columbine, is a decorative aquarium plant that is quite demanding.Growing difficulty: demandingLight requirements: strongCO₂ requirements: strongOutgrown plant height: up to 60 cmGrowth: fastTemperature: 24-28°CPlacement in aquarium: third levelOrigin: South AmericaCup diameter 6 cmMyriophyllum Mattogrossense or red coneflower is a rather demanding, although easy to grow tertiary plant. It is native to Brazil, more specifically to Mato Grosso in the Rio Amazon. It has long, brittle stems with pinnate, whorled leaves. The plant itself is reminiscent of dill in appearance. Under good conditions, it can bloom with small, red, single flowers. It needs a fertile, rich substrate and very intense lighting. Only then can it develop its full potential and show its beauty in the aquarium. It does not like coarse gravel, it grows much better in a fine but permeable substrate. Intensive CO₂ fertilization is advisable. Liquid fertilizer added to the water column will also improve the aesthetic qualities of the plant, which likes to make use of these resources. If it is well fertilized, it grows luxuriantly and the stems have a beautiful red color. It needs a long day, so the light should be on for at least 8-10 hours. It is very sensitive to the parameters that are not maintained. With regular water changes it grows vigorously and the leaves spread into green fans, while in old water the leaves become much smaller and unsightly. If you change the water every few months, you may lose the plant. Myriophyllum Mattogrossense thrives in both soft and hard water.pH 6-7.2.Temperature 24-28°C It is also important that you prune the Myriophyllum regularly. If the plant is not pruned, it will get very fine leaves, especially in the lower part, which will look very unflattering. Regular pruning of the tops helps to prevent this. The plant reproduces very easily, it is enough to plant the cut tip in fertile soil, and it will quickly form a rich, filamentous root system. Due to the need for fertilizer and the capriciousness of the plant, it is not recommended for beginners in aquaristics. The plant is grown in vitro and is free of snails, parasites and algae. A high quality gel was used as a nutrient solution for breeding, so it can quickly and easily adapt to new conditions..

JBL ProNovo Malawi Grano M
JBL ProNovo Malawi Grano Staple food granules for growth-eating cichlids from 8 to 20 cm Prebiotic ; sinking aquarium fish food: special dietary fibers in the food provide the beneficial intestinal bacteria with nourishment for healthy digestion Natural raw materials without artificial additives for a natural diet and healthy aquarium fish. Tested on JBL research expeditions in the tropics Very high acceptance even by picky tetra species due to high-quality raw materials such as salmon, shrimp, spirulina and insects With the very high-quality natural astaxanthin from krill and spirulina, which ensures perfect color formation in Neon and other tetra species Scope of delivery: original sealed, airtight and lightproof, recyclable tin with click-doser as feeding aid or 20 g in a fresh bag In the rift valley lakes of East Africa (Lake Malawi and Lake Tanganyika) many cichlids have specialized in grazing the algae growth with the micro-organisms living in it from the rocks (herbivorous growth eaters). JBL PRONOVO MALAWI was developed for these species. In contrast, almost all other species in both lakes live predatorily and eat fish, microorganisms, shrimps and fish fry. Some even eat only the scales of other fish (Plecodus). JBL PRONOVO TANGANYIKA was developed for the predatory species of both lakes. If both groups are kept together in ONE aquarium, it is essential to offer both types of food. In this way each type of food gets the right food for it. Typical predators from Lake Tanganyika: Lamprologus, Neolamprologus, Julidochromis, Cyphotilapia, Telmatochromis, Chalinochromis Typical predators from Lake Malawi: Trematocranus, Haplochromis, Nimbochromis, Sciaenochromis, Labidochromis. Advantages of JBL foods: Use of pure fish protein without cheap fish meal. Optimal protein-fat ratio. Mainly proteins from aquatic animals. Reduction of algae growth and optimal fish growth due to adjusted phosphate content. Prebiotic: Prebiotics are "substrates that are selectively utilized by host microorganisms and impart health benefits." Here, scientists agree that they promote digestion and thus health. In the case of our fish, there is another essential aspect: With better digestion, less is excreted and thus the water is less polluted, resulting in fewer algae problems and keeping the water cleaner. Since the majority of maintained cichlids from Lake Tanganyika are predatory, the food for predatory species was named PRONOVO TANGANYIKA. Since most of the species kept in Lake Malawi are predators, JBL has named this food PRONOVO MALAWI.

In the JBL PRONOVO BITS this has been considered and therefore raw materials such as shrimps have been chosen which the fish cannot resist. Since discus and cichlids living in the same biotope adapt their food spectrum to dry and rainy seasons, but we do not reproduce this in the aquarium, the food must be very versatile. In the rainy season of Amazonia, when the water level rises to 9 m, discus even eat fruits and other vegetable components! In the dry season, discus orientate themselves towards the bottom and, apart from shrimps, eat everything they can find from the bottom. Advantages of JBL foods: Use of pure fish protein without cheap fish meal. Optimal protein-fat ratio. Mainly proteins from aquatic animals. Of course, squid are not part of the natural food spectrum of the discus.

JBL ProNovo Bel Weekend M
JBL ProNovo Bel Weekend Weekend food for all freshwater aquarium fish from 8 to 20 cmProvide your aquarium fish with stored food for 3 days Application: Place food block into the aquarium. It sinks to the bottom and 1 block provides about 15 ornamental fish up to 10 cm size with food for 3 days The block consists of a calcium compound that adds some total hardness to the water when dissolved. It dissolves slowly through the feed intake of the fish Natural raw materials without artificial additives for a natural diet and healthy aquarium fish. Tested on JBL research expeditions in the tropics. Scope of delivery: 4 food blocks. 1 block for feeding 15 fish over 3 days.Aquariums are the easiest pets for owners to care for during a weekend or vacation trip. Very few species of fish cannot be fed with commercial food and will only accept live food. For a weekend or longer vacation, the aquarium owner has a choice: either feed JBL PRONOVO BEL WEEKEND (for 3 days) or JBL PRONOVO BEL HOLIDAY (for 2 weeks) or use an automatic feeder (JBL AUTOFOOD), which is filled with his preferred feed granulate. Most aquarium fish, excluding juveniles, would even go a day or two without food - just like in nature. But then many aquarium owners get a guilty conscience and therefore JBL PRONOVO BEL WEEKEND is available even for a short absence. The food blocks in JBL PRONOVO BEL HOLIDAY and WEEKEND consist of a natural calcium compound which slowly dissolves when the fish "nibble" on it. Bottom-dwelling fish such as armored catfish or loaches also quickly smell the contained food and then also provide themselves with food as needed. Be careful when you ask neighbors to feed your fish! Most people then mean it too well and overfeed massively. Then large amounts of food lie uneaten on the aquarium floor and spoil. This leads to serious problems with oxygen levels and toxic nitrite that then builds up. A vacation feeder or a feeder (or aquarists as neighbors) are the better way.
