After soaking or preparation, the pieces of wood sink and can be placed precisely between stones, on slopes or in small hollows. It is recommended to boil the material for approximately 20 minutes or soak it for 24–72 hours before use, and then introduce it into the tank gradually. As this is a natural wood-based material, tannins may be released. In weakly buffered water, this can affect the pH value.
