A sand bath is a great way for hamsters and mice to groom their fur and feel comfortable. A small sand bath in a corner of the enclosure allows the animals to remove excess fat and dirt from their fur by rolling around in it. Fine chinchilla sand, which is particularly gentle on the fur, is suitable for this.
