The usually 15 to 18 cm, at most 30 cm long body is slender and slightly flattened at the sides. It is the smallest fish with an adipose fin. Smelt have a slightly translucent body. The back and sides are grey-green to pink, the flanks have a silvery sheen. The caudal fin has a dark edge. The smelt can live up to 6 years. It is characterised by an intense smell reminiscent of fresh cucumber, which gave the fish its name, derived from “stink”. The main fishing area is the north and west coast of Europe.

The smelts we supply are usually 5-8cm in size.

Good quality.

Very important natural, recommendable and supplementary food for a wide variety of animals, from aquariums to terrariums! As "small smelts approx. 8 cm GL" are specially advertised, there should be a little more in this size, because there are always larger ones. On the other hand, it is certainly difficult to realise, so you can cut to size. Always keep all these products loosely frozen !!!
