This species is found on the Asian continent, especially in countries such as China and the Himalayan region. In China it is very common in its natural habitat, but in other countries it is hard to find. Recently, it has gained popularity due to its original and unique structure and characteristic flowers.The plant is characterized by very slow growth, as it takes about 6 months to form a rosette with a diameter of 10 cm. It reaches an average height of 5 cm. There must be a very fertile substrate, as the species has a very extensive root system. Through this, the plant absorbs most of the nutrients it needs for growth. It tolerates a wide range of water temperatures from 19 to 29 °C. It also grows in water with medium to high hardness,but prefers soft water. To ensure good growth, strong lighting and CO₂ dosage is essential, as well as micronutrient fertilization. Under these conditions, it will reward us with a beautiful rosette appearance with many young leaves.The propagation of this plant can be done in several ways. The easiest and most popular is the division of the rosette. This can be done as early as about a month after planting the plant in the aquarium. To get new cuttings, pull out a single plant and remove it from the water. Use a sharp tool to carefully cut the rosette into smaller pieces, and then use tweezers to place them in the substrate. After some time, the cut should be covered with new leaves, and the plant will take on a spherical shape.In aquariums, it likes to bloom, so its original inflorescences make an unusual decoration for any aquarium. Planting: The plant must be removed from the cup and thoroughly rinsed from the gel under running water. This is best done by placing the plant in a container of lukewarm water. Most of the gel will then fall off by itself.

Another and also new variety of the dwarf spear leaf is the 'Gold' variety. It was discovered in the normal cultivation stock in a nursery in Taiwan. After isolation, it took a few years until a stable stock was available. Its light green to golden yellow leaf colour clearly distinguishes it from other dark green Anubias species. The lighting should not be too weak here, otherwise the plants will become darker in leaf colour again.

As with any type of wood, a bacterial film may initially form on the surface. This is not mould and is completely harmless. The bacterial film can simply be vacuumed off and is also readily eaten by many aquarium inhabitants.

Aquarium plants need a regular supply of nutrients for strong, healthy growth. Aquaria are usually fertilised on a weekly schedule, which means that larger quantities of fertiliser are added at regular intervals. With a Dosator, your aquarium plants are fertilised as in nature, in that they are given a small quantity of nutrients on an ongoing basis.
The Dosator is specially designed for the Dennerle fertilisers V30 Complete and S7 VitaMix.V30 is dispensed automatically over 4 weeks; S7 over the space of 1 week.
AN INNOVATION FROM DENNERLE
The Dennerle Dosator made from high-quality plastic works according to the principle of osmosis. Water from the aquarium "seeps" through the semi-permeable special membrane into the reservoir, pushing the nutrient solution drop-by-drop via the riser into the aquarium. This has two effects: firstly the aquarium gets the amount of fertiliser it needs, and secondly: the Dosator becomes a "tank indicator": as the water enters bit by bit and pushes the fertiliser into the aquarium, the fertiliser-water mixture in the Dosator becomes increasingly clear. When the contents of the dispenser lose their colour (S7 orange, V30 yellowy-green) you know it is time to fertilise.
Aquarium plants benefit from the constant, even supply of nutrients like in nature. This ensures healthy, even plant growth and allows the aquarium to shine with magnificent, rich green splendour. The disadvantages of an excessively high nutrient concentration caused by bursts of fertiliser are a thing of the past. And the best thing: The overall lower nutrient level and the need-based supply of nutrients to the plants is extremely effective in preventing algae growth.
The Dosator has been developed especially for use with V30 Complete and S7 VitaMix as part of the Dennerle fertiliser system:V30 is automatically dispensed over 4 weeks, S7 over 1 week (2 Dosators are needed for this).The innovative fertiliser dispenser, made from high-quality, durable plastic, can be used to supply aquaria from 50 to 300 litres.
The Dosator is ideally suited to use with V30 as an all-purpose fertiliser and ensures even, drop-by-drop fertiliser addition over the course of a month.
As the Dosator works purely on the principle of osmosis and does not have any moving parts or require batteries or a power supply (like a dosage pump/fertiliser dispenser), it operates very safely and economically. It also offers considerable advantages compared with a classic daily fertiliser, as the device only needs to be refilled once a week (S7) or once a month (V30).
