Micranthemum umbrosum ist eine zierliche Aquarienpflanze aus den USA. Ihre rundlichen Blättchen werden ca. ½ Zentimeter groß und sind von leuchtend hellgrüner Farbe. Als typisch lichthungrige Pflanze mag sie keine zu hohen Temperaturen. Wie die Hemianthus micranthemoides kann man auch sie mit einer scharfen Schere gut in Form schneiden. Das Perlenkraut ist für Nano Cubes gut geeignet, besonders wenn das Miniaturaquarium ohne Heizer betrieben wird. Temperatur 18-26°C

Der Sumatrafarn besitzt deutlich feinere Blätter als Ceratopteris cornuta. Diese Art kommt in vielen tropischen Ländern vor. Hier wächst sie meist im schlammigen Flachwasser, teilweise ist sie auch in Reisfeldern anzutreffen. Im Aquarium benötigt die grazile Farnpflanze genügend Platz, da sie doch sehr schnellwachsend ist. Pogostemon stellatus ist eine Stängelpflanze mit dichtstehenden Blattquirlen und kräftig gefärbten Blattspitzen. In Asien und Australien, wo sie in sumpfigen und moorigen Gebieten bis über 2.000 m gedeiht, ist sie häufiger anzutreffen. In der Kultur im Aquarium ist sie recht anspruchsvoll und benötigt weiches Wasser für ein gutes Wachstum. Viel Licht, permanente CO2-Zugaben und eine gute Ernährung sind ebenso wichtig. Sobald die Stängel die Wasseroberfläche erreicht haben, kann man die Triebspitzen abschneiden und neu setzen - aber auch der abgeschnittene untere Stängel treibt neu aus.

Die Heimat dieser zierlichen Aquarienpflanze ist die Ostküste von Nordamerika. Dort wächst die Hemianthus-Art auf steinigem oder schlammigem Bodengrund an Flussläufen. Ihr lockerer, aufrechter Wuchs und die leuchtend hellgrüne Farbe vermitteln einen frischen, frühlingshaften Eindruck. Mit Hilfe einer scharfen Schere lässt sich die Pflanze gut einkürzen. Nach dem Rückschnitt treiben viele neue Seitentriebe aus und der Bestand wirkt kompakter und dichter. Sehr kontrastreich ist die Kombination der hellgrünen Hemianthus mit rotlaubigen Arten wie der Alternanthera.

Die braune Farbvariante der Cryptocoryne wendtii ist ebenfalls sehr beliebt und in vielen Pflanzenlandschaften einsetzbar. Ihre Blattränder sind leicht gewellt, die Blätter sind teilweise auch bullös geformt. Die Blattfarbe ist grün bis braun, zum Teil auch braun geflammt. Bei guter Beleuchtung werden ihre Blätter tief dunkelbraun. In Kombination mit anderen grünen Wasserkelchen wirkt dies sehr kontrastreich. Wie fast alle Cryptocorynen aus Sri lanka wächst sie gut im härteren Wasser und ist somit bestens für Cichliden-aquarien geeignet.

This water calyx has been cultivated in aquariums for over 50 years. All Dennerle Cryptocorynes are cultivated above water in our greenhouses. As a rule, the leaves and growth behavior above and below water are extremely different. This is also the case with Cryptocoryne affinis. Its typical olive-green to brownish leaves only appear under water. It does not require much lighting, and growth is optimal in slightly alkaline water. C. affinis is highly recommended for cichlid aquaria with limestone.

eine dekorative Vordergrundpflanze ist die Lilaeopsis brasiliensis. am Naturstandort besiedelt sie den Uferbereich von flüssen und Sümpfen bis in eine Höhe von über 1.000 m. Ihr grasartiger Charakter ist ähnlich wie bei Helanthium tenellum, daher wird sie auch manchmal als „falsche Tenellus“ bezeichnet. Im Aquarium ist sie problemlos zu kultivieren, bevorzugt kühleres Wasser und wächst, unabhängig, ob weiches oder härteres Wasser, recht langsam. Kräftiger Rückschnitt, wie bei einem Rasen, fördert das kompakte Wachstum. Sie braucht viel Licht.
