The shrimps form a very large group that have developed very different feeding strategies. Very peaceful fan shrimp (Atya) filter plankton particles from the water with their fan-like legs. Scissor shrimps (Macrobrachium) live predatorily and also eat other shrimps. Most Caridina and Neocaridina species are peaceful and pluck algae and tiny particles from the substrate with their mouthparts. In Sulawesi's lakes, shrimp species exist that have adapted to the very special habitats. The pretty little cardinal prawns (C. dennerlii) eat growth, but only in the immediate vicinity of their shelter. Bee shrimps use their sense of smell to search for and find their food, and will even walk through half the aquarium to do so. Cardinal shrimps do not do this. JBL PRONOVO SHRIMPS should be fed directly to their noses. The wafers of JBL PRONOVO CRABS are more suitable for claw shrimps (Macrobrachium).
