Depending on the light intensity, they are wavy or flat. Salvinia forms a third type of underwater leaves on which the spores are deposited.Like all floating plants, Salvinia is recommended for shady waters . Its great appetite for nitrogen and phosphorus compounds makes this plant a good ally in the fight against algae.
Salvinia has low light and nutrient requirements. It grows well in both moderate and strong light. As a floating plant, it does not require a substrate but draws all the necessary nutrients directly from the water. During the vegetation period, it reproduces by spreading, whereby the growth rate is moderate. This makes it easy to control its growth and remove excess plants. It grows to a length of 3-6 cm and likes warm, humid air, so it is advisable to use a glass or cover when growing it.It should be placed in such a way that no condensation falls on the plants. It adapts very quickly to the new parameters. However, it should be borne in mind that it will die if there is too little light. It thrives best in soft to medium-hard water at 22-24°C.
The in vitro culture of plants is carried out in tissue culture laboratories. Thanks to the sterile production conditions, the cuttings are free from snails, algae or pathogens.Planting:The plant must be removed from the cup and thoroughly rinsed of the gel under running water. Kaum eine andere Stängelpflanze ist derart farbintensiv wie diese Sorte. Stängel, Blattober- und Unterseite sind braun rot- bis kirschrot gefärbt. Die Pflanze benötigt aber zur intensiven Färbung eine gute Beleuchtung und eine ausreichende CO2-Versorgung. Die Wuchsgeschwindigkeit liegt im mittleren Bereich, sodass ein Einkürzen der Stängel bzw. Rückschnitt alle 6-8 Wochen erfolgen sollte. Für Diskus-Aquarien ist diese südamerikanische Pflanze eine farbliche Bereicherung in Kombination mit Schwertpflanzen.

Underwater gardenerAquascaping is the term used to describe the technique of designing aquarium landscapes. This is the place for plant compositions, for the reproduction of a landscape above water or for natural biotopes. An aquascaping aquarium contains no or few fish and invertebrates. This way the nutrient supply for plants is reduced and their growth is limited. Nitrogens, phosphorus and other minerals become scarce substances and need precise re-dosing. The plants need light for their healthy growth in a beautiful underwater landscape, CO2 and the right nutrients.
Rich in mineralsProScape soils are dedicated substrates which have been especially adapted to the requirements of the aquascapers. Soils are not neutral to water but have a softening effect. They make the water softer and acidify the water just enough to slide the pH value slightly into the acidic range. The JBL plant soils are rich in nutrients and supply the plants with both nutrients and minerals, whereas ShrimpsSoils are lower in nutrients.
Use:Rinse the substrate briefly under tap water to wash away any abrasion caused in transport. To avoid accumulation of minerals in the water, carry out a 50 % water change every 2 to 3 days in the first two weeks after filling. The softening effect decreases in the course of time because the influence of the water values depend on the input water values and the intervals between the water changes.
