Product information "Live shiny worms 90ml"

Live shiny worms - Lumbriculus variegatus

Shiny worms look very similar to small earthworms and are ideal for live feeding in aquaria.

Shiny worms, also known as Lumbriculus variegatus, belong to the group of the few-worms. With a length of 4-10 cm, they are ideal for medium-sized to large fish. Shrimps, such as Amano shrimps or tiger shrimps, also occasionally appreciate a shiny worm as food.

These worms not only resemble earthworms externally, but are also closely related to them. Due to their dark color, they are also known as blackworms or are occasionally found in pots of aquatic plants, for example from Dennerle (which is why they are sometimes called Dennerle worms). Shiny worms are rich in proteins and fats, but do not contain much fiber.

Desert locust (Schistozerca gregaria) large
Contents Food animals: approx. 9 pcs / can
Desert locust (Schistozerca gregaria)The desert locust (Schistozerca gregaria) is one of the largest commercially bred food animals. Females reach a total length with wings of over 75 mm in some cases. popular food animal for reptiles and amphibians larger than the migratory locust Large - Adult The desert locust is one of the largest commercially bred food animals. Females reach a total length with wings of over 75 mm in some cases. Males usually remain somewhat smaller. This means that desert locusts are up to 30% larger than, for example, the migratory locust (Locusta migratoria). The animals are pink-grey in colour after moulting. Over the next 6-10 days, the colouring changes to a strong yellow, especially in the males. However, the animals have the most beautiful colouring and patterning during the juvenile and subadult stage. Here, the animals are also coloured lemon yellow with a black pattern. It is precisely this colouring that arouses the prey drive in many reptile species, which makes the desert locust particularly popular with many terrarium keepers.Unfortunately, the desert locust is not as productive as the migratory locust and rearing the animals takes up to 2/3 longer. On the other hand, it can be bred almost all year round, as it is not too demanding on special types of food. The desert locust is an excellent food insect because it can usually survive shipping without damage, even in extreme heat and cold, and can survive for up to 2 weeks after shipping without the addition of food.Desert locusts are generally accepted by all lizards. Experience has shown that they are particularly favoured by large lizards such as bearded dragons, water dragons, basilisks, varans, ruffed lizards etc.. They are particularly popular with many species of chameleon, as they are particularly attracted to the yellow colouring of juvenile and sub-adult animals.Order by Sunday evening - delivery on ThursdayOrders received by Sunday evening will be dispatched by A Mail on Wednesday or Thursday. Please enter a recipient address to which the parcel can be delivered. We accept no responsibility for parcels that are delivered late or collected late. The live crickets in the shop are only available at this price on Wednesdays - the prices per tin are otherwise Fr. 1.00 per tin higher, as we also feed and care for the crickets. Even with the greatest care, it can happen that feed animals die due to temperature fluctuations or unpredictable events. Catappa Leaves XL - 10 pieces
Catappa Leaves XL – natural sea almond tree leaves for aquariums and terrariumsCatappa Leaves XL are large, dried leaves of the sea almond tree and are particularly popular in aquariums with tropical fish, shrimp and blackwater species. In water, the leaves release natural tannins and humic substances slowly, which may cause the aquarium water to take on a slightly yellowish to brownish tint. This natural colouring diffuses the light and mimics the habitat of many tropical fish species. As the leaves slowly decompose, they create valuable grazing areas for shrimp, catfish and other aquarium inhabitants. At the same time, the large leaves provide natural cover and places of refuge. Catappa leaves can also be used decoratively in terrariums and serve as hiding places for small animals or as ground decoration. Catappa leaves are a popular natural product for natural-looking aquariums, blackwater setups and biotope tanks. When stored dry, they have a very long shelf life and are easy to use.Advantages at a glanceLarge Catappa leaves with a length of 21–40 cmRelease natural tannins and humic substancesSupport a natural blackwater appearanceCan promote the well-being of fishProvide grazing areas for shrimp and catfishAlso suitable as decoration and hiding place in the terrarium100 % natural product UsageThe leaves can be placed directly into the aquarium. They soak up water and sink to the bottom after some time. There they release their natural substances over several weeks. After about two to three weeks, a new leaf can be added if needed. The old leaves can remain in the aquarium, as they are readily grazed on by shrimp and other animals.Product detailsSize: approx. 21–40 cmContents: 10 piecesMaterial: dried leaves of the sea almond tree, Terminalia catappaSuitable for: freshwater aquariums, blackwater tanks, shrimp aquariums and terrariumsZoo Roco Tip: Catappa Leaves XL can be ideally combined with alder cones, lotus pods, cholla wood or coconut shells. You can also add 1/7 of the total dosage daily. The color of the product is dark green - dark brown. Use one third of the dosage in the first weeks. This can then be adjusted later to achieve optimum plant growth (10 ml +/- 40 % per 100 liters per week). The best dosage can be determined by looking at the youngest leaves of a plant. If you are light green, the dosage should be increased. If the aquarium is infested with algae and/or no growth improvement is noticeable, the dosage can be reduced. By the way, the introduction of (several) fast-growing plants can help to counteract the effects of algae.
