Tropical Bio-vit - Vegetable flakes BIO-VIT is a vegetable flake food for everyday feeding of herbivorous fish and a supplementary food for omnivorous fish.Indispensable in common multi-species tanks. Optimally balanced formula and the addition of essential vitamins and trace elements, derived from wheat germs among other sources, ensure fish's proper growth and development. Another attention-worthy ingredient is a stabilised vitamin C, which enhances fish's immune system and accelerates healing of wounds and abrasions. Regular feeding with BIO-VIT lowers the risk of constipations and inflammatory disorders of the alimentary tract – the most common problems of herbivorous fish, whose alimentary tract is particularly long. Some fish actually find it a little difficult to switch from granules to flakes or vice versa. Imagine that you have always eaten soft cornflakes and now you are getting wholemeal cereal for the first time.Probiotic or prebiotic?Probiotic foods, such as some types of yoghurt, contain live bacterial cultures to promote health, but only when consumed in larger quantities. Such foods, including probiotic fish food, can easily spoil and then have the opposite effect. The positive effect on health is, by the way, quite controversial.Pre- or prebiotics are "substrates that are selectively used by host microorganisms and impart health benefits." Scientists agree that they promote digestion and thus health. With better digestion, less is excreted and thus the water is less polluted, keeping the water cleaner and causing fewer algae problems.
