Ear infection test for dogs and cats


Simply test for ear mites, yeast and bacteria at home.

Sore, itchy or unpleasant smelling ears are among the most common complaints in dogs and cats. With the ear infection test from pezz, you can easily find out at home whether bacteria, yeast or ear mites are the cause - without a stressful visit to the vet.

You will receive the result within 24-48 hours of the sample arriving at the laboratory.


What is tested?

During the cytological examination, the cells on the surface of your pet's skin are analyzed microscopically.

The following are examined

  • Epithelial cells (skin cells)
  • Ear mites and mite eggs
  • bacteria
  • Yeast fungi
  • White and red blood cells

This will give you a precise diagnosis of the most common causes of an ear infection in your dog or cat.


When should you be tested?

A test is useful if you notice one or more of the following symptoms:

  • Scratching of the ear, head or neck
  • Frequent shaking of the head
  • Red, moist or swollen ears
  • Unpleasant odor from the ears
  • Discharge or dandruff on the earlobes
  • Irritation or sensitivity of the ears
  • Signs of hearing loss


How the ear infection test works

  • Activate the test: Activate your test online at www.pezz.life/start and receive your return label.
  • Collect sample: Take swabs from the outer ear areas of your pet using the enclosed swabs. Important: Do not insert the swabs deep into the ear - risk of injury!
  • Send in the sample: Stick the free return label on the box and drop it in the nearest letterbox.
  • You will receive the result 24-48 hours after the sample has been received by the laboratory.
