Stumpfe, abgeriebene Panzer werden dadurch vermieden. Durch seine luftige und lockere Struktur isoliert Tortoise Bedding und federt Temperaturschwankungen ab, wenn die Tiere vergraben sind. Zugesetzte natürliche Tonmineralien sorgen für eine gleichbleibende Substratfeuchte, weshalb es von Landschildkröten auch gerne als Eiablagesubstrat angenommen wird.
