Healthy aquarium/pond with near-natural conditions
The correct water values in the aquarium/pond depend on the fish population and the existing plants. Even if the water looks clear, it can be polluted. If the values are poor, diseases or algae can form in the aquarium/pond. For a healthy aquarium/pond with near-natural conditions, it is important to regularly check and adjust the water values.
For every water analysis, JBL offers water tests in the form of quick tests or colour change tests. These determine a specific value or several values simultaneously. With these water tests, algae problems can be recognised and negative nitrate, nitrite, potassium, magnesium values etc. can be identified.
Why test?
The most consistent adherence to a suitable O2 level is an important prerequisite for the well-being of aquarium and pond inhabitants as well as the thriving of aquatic plants. Oxygen is the "elixir of life" for all animal organisms. All animals in the aquarium and pond need oxygen to breathe. But even the more "invisible helpers" in the aquarium and pond, the bacteria that break down pollutants, depend on a sufficient oxygen content to be able to carry out their useful activities. In aquariums and ponds with few or no plants, as well as in marine aquariums, the oxygen content should always be maintained at the appropriate equilibrium value by technical means.
The water absorbs oxygen through the water surface. The more turbulent the surface, the more oxygen is absorbed. If algae die off and many medications are used, the oxygen content in the water must be increased by aeration.
