sera Pond UV Blocker
Highlights:
-
Reduces UV light transmission in pond water (humic acids)
Reduces turbidity / "green water" by shading out light
Inhibits excessive warming - especially in shallow water zones
Cares for sensitive fish mucous membranes thanks to natural humic substances
Suitable for koi, goldfish & native species
Strong sunlight can quickly become a problem in garden ponds: UV radiation promotes turbidity (e.g. greenish water due to floating algae), stresses fish and causes the water to heat up much faster - especially in shallow areas.
The sera Pond UV Blocker provides a natural remedy here. The concentrated humic acids/humic substances it contains reduce the UV light transmission of the pond water. This creates a shading effect that can contribute to natural clarification when used regularly. At the same time, the pond inhabitants benefit: the lower light input can reduce the stress level and the humic substances support the care of the sensitive mucous membranes.
Where is the UV blocker best used?
-
Ponds with full sun or little natural shade
-
Ponds with koi/goldfish or higher stocking levels
-
Natural and ornamental ponds in which you want to avoid chemical intervention as far as possible (maintenance support)
Application & dosage
Dosage: 50 ml per 1,000 liters of pond water.
Recommendation: dose weekly.
In case of very strong sunlight / high turbidity: increase dosage to 2× per week.
Application instructions:
-
Shake well before use.
Ensure even distribution (e.g. pre-dilute in a watering can or pour into the flow area). (Practical tip; manufacturer refers to "sufficient water movement" for distribution).
Range of the variants:
-
500 ml → up to 10,000 L
-
2.5 L → up to 50,000 L
Ingredients / active principle
-
Basis: Natural humic substances / (concentrated) humic acids
Effect: Light filtering/shading, thus less UV input, supports natural water clarification with regular use
Frequently asked questions:
Does the UV blocker turn the water brown?
Humic substances can give the water a slightly amber-colored, natural hue - similar to many natural waters. This is intentional because it filters out UV light. (Common humic substance effect; the "reduce UV light transmission" is the manufacturer's specification).
Can I use the UV Blocker together with UV-C clarifiers/filters?
Yes, it is generally common to use it with filter systems. UV Blocker works by filtering light in the water; filters then remove particles/clouding. (Combination note without hard manufacturer's exclusive claim.)
Which fish is itsuitable for?
For goldfish, koi and native fish species.
How quickly will I see an effect?
The product is designed for regular use and supports natural clarification. Visible changes depend heavily on sunlight, nutrient input and filtration.
