Monkeys have always held a great fascination for humans: Their huge repertoire of behaviour, which so often reminds us of ourselves, their intelligence and not least the graceful ease with which the majority of species move at dizzying heights are just some of the reasons for their great attraction. The desire to get closer to the monkeys, to be able to observe them more closely and to care for them in human hands is not far away. The care of monkeys in private hands is the subject of extremely controversial discussions – but it is not only the pros and cons that will be the focus of the next RODENTIA Exotics cover story, in “Fascination Primates” you will learn more about new biological findings as well as the behaviour and care of the species relevant to husbandry.
