| Notes | |||
Lilaeopsis brasiliensis is a decorative foreground plant. In its natural habitat, it colonises the banks of rivers and marshes up to an altitude of over 1,000m. Its grass-like character is similar to that of Helanthium tenellum, which is why it is sometimes referred to as "false tenellus". It is easy to cultivate in the aquarium, prefers cooler water and grows quite slowly, regardless of whether the water is soft or hard. Strong pruning, as with a lawn, promotes compact growth. It needs plenty of light.
