Tropical Astacolor - Intensive colour-enhancing flake food for discus
An ingredient-rich, colour-enhancing flake food for the daily feeding of discus, especially red specimens, and other fish for which stronger and better colouration is desired.
The high content of natural carotenoids, including easily assimilated astaxanthin, helps in a very short time to develop the full spectrum of intense, vivid – not just red – colours. Natural carotenoids also strengthen the immune system and have a positive effect on the overall condition of the fish. It is recommended to vary the diet of discus and other demanding fish with other Tropical food varieties such as REGULAR, D-ALLIO PLUS or D-VITAL PLUS.

composition of the ideal growth food for young fish depends on many
factors. The young fish are growing and need important nutrients for
development. Vital vitamins and the bioelement inositol are needed to
strengthen the immune system. With young fish it is essential that the
food size fits the mouth size. It is better to feed a feed that is too
small than a feed that is too large! The appropriate phosphate content
of the feed is essential for healthy bone formation. Too little
phosphate and calcium will lead to bone deformities.
When the young fish are large enough, supplementation with live Artemia
(brine shrimp) is ideal. JBL offers a complete program for this = JBL
Artemio.In the case of fry, a distinction is made between the
fry of egg-laying and live-bearing species. After hatching, the young
fish of egg-laying species are considerably smaller and first feed on
infusoria (microorganisms) which they find in their environment. Many
species then also accept liquid food (JBL PRONOVO BEL FLUID). Shortly
afterwards they accept fine dust food (JBL PRONOVO BEL BABY TOM or the
dust food from the first tin of the JBL PRONOVO BABY set). As soon as
they have grown again a little, you can change to the 2nd can of JBL
PRONOVO BABY. If the parents are brooders (e.g. cichlids), a long
pipette or a piece of hose helps to bring the food dissolved in water
specifically to the young fish.
In the case of egg-laying or even mouth-breeding species, the young fish
are larger and immediately eat the food from the second can of JBL
PRONOVO BABY and live Artemia (JBL Artemio System). A

Only a male of the same species is fought to the death - hence the name! The beautiful, long-finned fighting fish in our pet shops are descended from the species Betta splendens, which is also popular for fish fights in Asia. Fighting fish and many other labyrinth fish (gouramis, gourami & macropods) live in both standing and flowing water. They are ambush hunters, quickly darting out with their overhead mouth to eat, for example, an insect that had landed on the water surface. They do not eat any aquarium plants and do not need much space. If you want to keep females as well as a male, you should definitely add several females. A single female would be too crowded. The best-known fighting fish species build foam nests on the water surface, which are guarded by the male. Other species of fighting fish are mouth brooders that incubate their eggs in the mouth until the young hatch and are large enough to stand on their own legs or fins. Water values are not really crucial for fighting fish. They prefer soft water and pH values between 6.5 and 7.5, but can also cope with other values.
