A cork insert that fits perfectly into the wooden wheels.

What the walking comfort of rodents is concerned, cork is simply unbeatable, at least for mice and hamsters. Unfortunately, cork can break, be nibbled on etc. There are cork inserts for this problem. Cork inserts allow you to replace cork in a running wheel or to add some. This cork insert was specially developed for cork wheels and cannot be combined with a plastic wheel.
