Cardinal lobelia is a stem plant native to North America. In its emersed form, the leaves are dark olive-green with a scarlet underside. The submerged plant, on the other hand, is light green with smaller leaves. Its fleshy stems grow very slowly and reach a height of only 10 - 20 cm underwater. Lobelia cardinalis is very often used in the planting style "Holland aquarium". Here, plants are densely planted and cultivated in larger groups according to a strict arrangement, creating the impression of a botanical garden. Slow-growing species with low demands on water values, as well as substrate and temperature.
