Product information "Limnobium laevigatum In-Vitro"
Limnobium laevigatum In-Vitro - a dainty floating plant
Limnobium laevigatum is a dainty floating plant for open aquariums and for the garden pond or water trough. However, this South American plant is not hardy and therefore, needs to be overwintered in a warm place. In the right conditions, the plants spread quickly and, bit by bit, develop into a dense carpet of plants. Very long root beards can form in places, providing good protection for young fish in the aquarium

Advice
Recommended as an algae stopper for all new installations. Care instructions
The hornwort is a cosmopolitan plant that can be found in many bodies of water around the world. We found the free-floating stem plant in huge populations in a tributary of the Rio Miranda on the edge of the Pantanal in South America. The growth rate of the stems is enormous, so they have to be constantly pruned. Ceratophyllum is considered a "miracle weapon" against algae growth. The explanation is quite simple: the plant is a strong nutrient consumer and removes the algae's food source. The use of hornwort is recommended for every new aquarium.

Vallisneria spiralis is also one of the classics in aquaristics. This undemanding aquatic plant forms ribbon-shaped leaves between 0.8 and 1.5 cm wide. Sometimes leaf lengths of up to 1 metre are achieved. It is easy to care for and cultivate and is ideal for creating a green, living back wall. Runner shoots that grow into the front area should be removed in good time. The species name "spiralis" does not refer to the leaves, but to the spirally twisted flower stems. It is also an ideal plant for perch aquaria.
Cardinal lobelia - Lobelia cardinalisThe cardinal lobelia is an eye-catching colour accent for the garden pond and brings vibrancy to the banks with its red flowers. At a height of 60-80 cm, it is ideal as a structuring plant in the background of low border plantings. It is suitable for planting depths of 0 to -15 cm and is hardy in zones 1-2.Flowering time: V-VIII (May to August)Flower colour: redWinter hardiness: Zone 1 - 2Pot: approx. 9 cmPlant specifications:They create a clear, red eye-catcher at the edge of the pond and visibly enliven the shoreline. Thanks to its planting depth of 0 to -15 cm, the cardinal lobelia is ideal for the edge and shallow water zone.Zone 1-2 makes it suitable for perennial pond design in many regions.Technical data:Botanical name: Lobelia cardinalisGerman name: Cardinal lobeliaPlanting depth: 0 to -15 cmFlowering time: V-VIIIWinter hardiness: Zone 1/2Pot: approx. 9 cmWith Lobelia cardinalis (cardinal lobelia), you are bringing a pond edge plant into your garden that can do one thing above all else: Show its colours. The bright red flowers make it the ideal eye-catcher around the garden pond - especially where many green and yellow tones dominate and a clear accent is desired. Due to its growth height of approx. 60 to 80 cm, it adds structure to the bank planting and is ideal as a background plant, in front of which lower ground cover and shallow water plants come into their own.The specified flowering period from May to August (V-VIII) ensures that your pond edge will look lively for a long time. For a harmonious overall look, we recommend planting in small groups or as a recurring element along the shoreline. This creates a natural, well thought-out design without the pond edge becoming unruly. The cardinal lobelia looks particularly attractive when the flowers are slightly above the waterline - the colour is reflected in the water and enhances the effect. With a recommended planting depth of 0 to -15 cm, Lobelia cardinalis is ideal for the edge and shallow water zone. Depending on the pond structure, place the plant directly in moist bank soil or in a very shallow water area. A plant basket can help to keep the position stable and make it easier to move the plant if necessary - especially if you want to adapt the design seasonally.
Thanks to zone 1-2, the cardinal lobelia is suitable for many regions and is an exciting choice if you want to create a permanent pond edge but still want to work with clear colour accents.Shipping note: We make every effort to ensure that our plants arrive healthy and undamaged. Despite the greatest care, it can happen that plants are slightly damaged by the post or other unforeseen events. This includes brown leaves as well as broken branches. We accept no liability for this. Do not plant in open bodies of water such as lakes or biotopes.Zoo Roco tip: It is best to place Lobelia cardinalis in the shallow water zone so that the roots are evenly moist (0 to -15 cm) - this ensures stable growth. For a particularly attractive look, place the plant where it can be reflected in the water and combine it in the foreground with low ground cover plants at the edge of the pond.

The pond liverwort Riccia is found worldwide and colonises floating water surfaces or damp soils. It was Takashi Amano who first introduced this floating moss to the aquarium hobby. In many of his designs, Riccia can be admired as a foreground plant. Cultivation and care are very simple: the moss clumps are tied onto stones or roots, where they can grow beautifully. The compact growth habit is maintained if the light green clumps are trimmed with scissors from time to time. CO₂ 2 -supplementation significantly promotes growth.Aquatic plants in vitroIn vitro plants are cultivated in the laboratory under sterile conditions. They are supplied in a 7cm closed container. The small plants are completely free of algae and snails and can be planted directly. This product group is ideal for smaller aquariums and nano cubes as well as for modern aquascaping. You can easily see how demanding each plant is by looking at the top right-hand corner of the packaging. Before planting, simply rinse off the culture medium and portion out the plant
Acorus calamus – sweet flag for pond edges & shallow waterCaltha palustris is a classic spring-flowering plant for the garden pond and adds bright splashes of colour with its yellow flowers from March to May (III–V). Reaching 30–40 cm in height, it is ideal for the pond edge and damp margins. It is suitable for a planting depth of 0 to –15 cm and is hardy in zone 1–2.Flower colour: yellowFlowering period: III–V (March to May)Height: approx. 30–40 cmPot size: approx. 9cmPlant specifications: They bring vibrant colour to the pond edge as early as spring – just when many other pond plants are still holding back. Thanks to a planting depth of 0 to –15 cm, the marsh marigold is ideally suited to banks and shallow water edge areas. Thanks to zone 1–2, it is suitable for perennial, low-maintenance pond planting.Technical data:Botanical name: Caltha palustrisEnglish name: Marsh marigoldHeight (cm): 30 / 40 cmPlanting depth: 0 / –15 cmFlowering period: III–VWinter hardiness zone: Zone 1 / 2Pot size: 9 cmWith Caltha palustris (marsh marigold), you will have one of the most popular spring-flowering plants at your garden pond. As the garden comes back to life after winter, it provides a radiant focal point by the water with its yellow flowers from March to May (III–V). Especially at the pond edge, this is particularly valuable: many marginal plants only really start to grow strongly later on – the marsh marigold, on the other hand, brings early colour and appears natural and harmonious. With a growth height of approx. 30 to 40 cm the plant is ideal for the foreground to midground. It fits beautifully on pond margins, in damp border beds or areas that are permanently fresh to wet. The recommended planting depth of 0 to –15 cm makes it perfect for the bank and shallow water edge zone: directly in moist soil at the edge or standing slightly in water. Caltha palustris looks particularly attractive when set in small groups – this creates a calm, natural area that visually softens the pond edge.Delivery in a 9-cm pot makes planting easier. If you want a very clear pond margin or want to keep the position flexible, a planting basket is a practical solution: this keeps the marsh marigold stable in the desired place and allows it to be easily moved if necessary. Thanks to winter hardiness zone 1–2, Caltha palustris is suitable for permanently designed pond installations in many regions and is an uncomplicated choice for easy-care, natural pond edge planting.Note on shipping: We make every effort to ensure that our plants arrive healthy and undamaged. Despite the utmost care, it can happen that plants are slightly damaged by the postal service or other unforeseen events. This includes brown leaves as well as broken stems. We do not accept any liability for this. Do not plant in open waters such as lakes or biotopes.
Zoo-Roco tip:
Plant the marsh marigold where you often walk past in spring – it’s a perfect starting point for the pond season. If your water level fluctuates greatly in spring, place the plant in the planting basket at 0 to –15 cm so it stays stable and takes root reliably.
Salvinia auriculataSalvinia Auriculata (Brazilian salvinia) is a floating plant native to South America. It grows moderately quickly so that its population can be controlled. Easy to grow. Absorbs nitrogen to combat algae. Propagates by spreading.Difficulty of cultivation: easy to mediumLight requirement: medium to highCO₂ requirement: lowHeight of the adult plant: 0.5 cmGrowth: moderate to fastTemperature: 22 - 24°CPlacement in the aquarium: SurfaceOrigin: South and Central AmericaCup diameter 6 cmSalvinia Auriculata (Brazilian Salvinia) is a floating ornamental plant. It is native to the calm, still waters of South and Central America. It can be found from Paraguay to Cuba. It owes its popularity above all to its original appearance. Its small oval leaves with a diameter of 10 mm cm are arranged opposite each other on an elongated leaf stalk. These leaves are covered with fine hairs that trap air bubbles, allowing them to float. Depending on the light intensity, they are wavy or flat. Salvinia forms a third type of underwater leaves on which the spores are deposited.Like all floating plants, Salvinia is recommended for shady waters . Its great appetite for nitrogen and phosphorus compounds makes this plant a good ally in the fight against algae.
Salvinia has low light and nutrient requirements. It grows well in both moderate and strong light. As a floating plant, it does not require a substrate but draws all the necessary nutrients directly from the water. During the vegetation period, it reproduces by spreading, whereby the growth rate is moderate. This makes it easy to control its growth and remove excess plants. It grows to a length of 3-6 cm and likes warm, humid air, so it is advisable to use a glass or cover when growing it.It should be placed in such a way that no condensation falls on the plants. It adapts very quickly to the new parameters. However, it should be borne in mind that it will die if there is too little light. It thrives best in soft to medium-hard water at 22-24°C.
The in vitro culture of plants is carried out in tissue culture laboratories. Thanks to the sterile production conditions, the cuttings are free from snails, algae or pathogens.Planting:The plant must be removed from the cup and thoroughly rinsed of the gel under running water. This is best done by placing the plant in a container of lukewarm water. Most of the gel will then fall off by itself. Place the plant on the surface of the water.

Carex panacea
– sedge for pond edges & shallow waterCarex panacea is a hardy sedge for damp banks and the shallow water edge zone of garden ponds. With a height of 60–80 cm, it brings a calm, natural structure to the planting scheme. The flowering period is from June to July (VI–VII), it is suitable for a planting depth of 0 to –15 cm and is hardy in zone 1–2.Flowering period: VI–VII (June to July)Height: approx. 60–80 cmPlanting depth: 0 to –15 cmPot size: approx. 9cmProduct specifications:They provide a stable, natural-looking structure at the pond edge and visually "frame" the shoreline neatly. Thanks to a planting depth of 0 to –15 cm, the sedge can be flexibly positioned on the damp edge or in very shallow water. With zone 1–2, Carex panacea is suitable for perennial, low-maintenance pond planting.Technical data:Botanical name: Carex panaceaCommon name: sedge Height (cm): 60 / 80 cmPlanting depth: 0 / –15 cmFlowering period: VI–VIIWinter hardiness zone: Zone 1 / 2Pot size: 9 cmWith Carex panacea, you choose a reliable structural grass for the garden pond, which permanently organises the bank zone and visually embeds the pond. Especially at pond edges, it is helpful to use plants that not only flower in specific spots, but also create a calm, natural line with their growth habit. Sedges are particularly well suited for this: they look neat, can be combined in various ways and add stability to the edge planting. With a height of approx. 60 to 80 cm, Carex panacea fits ideally into the middle to background of the pondside planting. It can serve as a green frame that structures the pond edge, while lower groundcovers and flowering shallow water plants in the foreground soften the transition to the water. The flowering period from June to July (VI–VII) falls in the early summer phase and complements the season, even if with sedges the focus is usually on foliage and structure. The recommended planting depth of 0 to –15 cm makes the plant flexible in use: directly in damp bank soil or in very shallow water. Depending on the pond layout, you can decide whether the sedge should act more as a marginal plant or as a shallow water element. The 9-cm pot is particularly suitable if you want to plant several plants to quickly achieve an even, natural bank line. For a neat pond edge and better control, a planting basket can be useful – this keeps the plant stable and makes it easier to move if necessary.
Thanks to zone 1–2, Carex panacea is winter hardy and therefore well suited for perennial pond schemes. A good choice if you are looking for a calm, low-maintenance structural plant for the garden pond, one that blends harmoniously into natural-looking bank designs.Note on shipping: We make every effort to ensure that our plants arrive healthy and undamaged at your address. Despite utmost care, it is possible for plants to be slightly damaged during postal delivery or other unforeseen events. This includes brown leaves just as much as bent branches. We accept no liability for this. Do not plant in open water such as lakes or biotopes. Zoo-Roco tip:
Plant sedges at the pond edge in small groups, slightly staggered, rather than in a straight line – this makes the shoreline appear more natural. If you want to keep the edge very neat, place Carex panacea in a planting basket at a depth of 0 to –15 cm and combine a low ground cover at the front for a soft finish.

Although this plant has been scientifically recognised for a long time, it was only "discovered" for aquariums a few years ago. With its highly decorative, strongly wavy leaf edges, it is probably one of the most beautiful foreground plants. At first glance, it looks like a rosette plant, but it is actually a strongly compressed stem plant. If a few basic cultivation conditions are met, Pogostemon helferi forms beautiful plant cushions: good to intensive lighting, temperatures around 25 °C, medium-hard water. Under these conditions, its leaf colour is rich green.

Ludwigia sp. 'Super Mini Red'Ludwigia sp. Super Mini Red' is a fast growing red plant for the second or third level in the aquarium. It is easy to propagate and does not require strong lighting. This plant grows in the soil and on decoration.Difficulty of cultivation: mediumLight requirement: mediumCO₂ requirement: mediumHeight of adult plant: 10-25 cmGrowth rate: mediumTemperature: 20-28°C Placement in aquarium: second or third level.
Origin: Cultivar (cultivated variety) Cup diameter: 6 cm Ludwigia sp. 'Super Mini Red' is the smallest of the red-leaved Ludwigia varieties. It has fine and delicate dark red leaves. A particularly decorative aquarium plant. Depending on tank size, it is suitable for the middle or third level of the aquarium. It is popular for arrangements in Dutch and natural style aquariums. The leaf blade is about 2 cm long and 1.5 cm wide. The plant does not have excessive requirements. It grows even in moderate light, although the red color then becomes less intense.
The plant can be planted in the ground or on decorations. When attached to the roots, it forms fanciful compositions, reminiscent of treetops. In this form of cultivation should not forget about the additional application of liquid fertilizer. The best growth results are obtained when planted in a fertile substrate. Under good conditions it spreads quickly.Ludwigia sp. Super Mini Red' has many lovers thanks to its extremely intense red color. It discolors easily and quickly under strong light conditions. In this way, it becomes an incredibly eye-catching design element in their aquarium. Due to its rapid growth, it must be regularly cut back and trimmed.
It does well in the strong spots of an arrangement, in the second or third row. The Super Mini Red variety does not require CO₂ and grows in the water column even with low light intensity and low fertilizer levels. Therefore, it is a suitable plant for beginners in plant aquaristics. However, it is important to remember that the best growing results can be achieved with appropriate lighting and additional carbon dioxide addition. It grows in both hard and soft water with pH between 5.5 and 7.5.
It does not require complicated care. Frequent pruning and good growing conditions will ensure beautiful, dense plants. It can grow up to 25 cm tall. As with most stems, the cut tips of the plants can be replanted in the ground. The plant will form side shoots at the cut.Planting:The plant must be removed from the cup and thoroughly rinsed from the gel under running water. This is best done by placing the plant in a container of lukewarm water. Most of the gel will then fall off by itself. Divide the contents of the cup into 1-2 cm lumps and then set them at intervals of 1 to 2 cm.
