Lilaeopsis brasiliensis is a decorative foreground plant. In its natural habitat it colonises the banks of rivers and swamps up to an altitude of over 1,000 m. Its grass-like character is similar to that of Helanthium tenellum, which is why it is sometimes referred to as "false tenellus". It is easy to cultivate in the aquarium, prefers cooler water and grows quite slowly, regardless of whether the water is soft or hard. Strong pruning, as with a lawn, promotes compact growth. It needs plenty of light.

The Sumatran fern has much finer leaves than Ceratopteris cornuta. This species is found in many tropical countries. Here it usually grows in muddy shallow water, but can also be found in rice fields. This graceful fern requires sufficient space in the aquarium as it grows very quickly. It is easy to care for and problem-free under medium light levels. A proven beginner's plant for every newcomer to the aquarium hobby.
