Feeding plants for birds

Most birds feed on fresh, vitamin-rich, semi-ripe seeds in the wild. Fruits, leaves, buds, flowers, grasses, mosses, bark, clay, maggots, insects and much more complete the diet. However, the usual grain food on the market consists of 100 percent hard, mature seeds, which many bird species, such as parakeets and finches, only eat in times of need. In order to feed birds in a species-appropriate way, the shoots, leaves, flowers, buds or fruits of many different plants should also be offered to the birds. They are not only rich in nutrients, but often also have healing properties that keep our feathered friends healthy and strengthen their defences. This book presents around 200 suitable food plants, many of which are native species growing on our doorstep, so to speak, or grown in the garden and thus easy to obtain. It also describes which parts of the plants are used, how they are processed and properly presented to both native birds and popular ornamental birds such as finches, parakeets and large parrots. Preparation of drinking and bathing teas, use of bud therapy as well as mineral and animal feed supplements and a list of plants (parts) poisonous to our birds as well as practical health tips round off the whole. Every bird lover should always have this ideal reference book at hand when it comes to feeding their feathered friends. Due to its practical format, it is also easy to take with you when you are out and about and want to enrich the menu for your charges with plants you have collected yourself. A standard work that now fills the gap in the specialist literature for bird lovers!

Piano intelligent toy
My Intelligent Pet Piano – activity game for dogs, cats and parrotsThe My Intelligent Pet Piano brings variety to mental work: Instead of just moving sliders, your pet works vertically and horizontally to reach the reward. Treats are placed in wooden tubes and fall out when pressed – accompanied by a sound effect. Short and sweet:Product type: Interactive intelligence & activity game with food rewardFor: Dogs (small to medium) and catsGame principle: Fill treats into tubes, release by pressingTraining effect: mental utilisation, concentration, dexterity, understanding of cause and effectArea of application: Indoor activity, quiet mental work, short training sessionsNote: Use under supervision recommendedApplication & safetyStart with 2–3 filled tubes so that your pet quickly understands the principle.Use small, dry snacks (so nothing sticks or becomes clogged).Increase the challenge by filling more tubes or choosing less strongly-scented rewards. Please do not use as a chew toy and do not leave the game unattended – this keeps it safe and long-lasting.Who is the "Piano" particularly suitable for?For animals that enjoy puzzles and playing for foodFor owners who are looking for a meaningful indoor activityFor times with less activity (weather, recovery, everyday life)With the My Intelligent Pet Piano, you introduce a new type of thinking and activity game into your pet’s daily routine. Unlike traditional flat intelligence boards, the focus here is not just on pushing elements: your dog or cat solves the task vertically and horizontally – this brings fresh stimuli and often keeps motivation higher for longer. The principle is simple and clever: you fill the wooden tubes with dry food or suitable treats. When your pet presses the tubes down, the reward falls out. As an extra incentive, a sound effect is produced, so your pet effectively “makes music” while playing. This is not only entertaining, but it can also help your pet understand cause and effect more quickly – pressing is rewarding. The piano is designed for mental utilisation: It trains concentration and dexterity and appeals to natural instincts such as curiosity, play, and the sense of smell. Especially on days when you have less time for long walks, it offers a meaningful indoor activity – in short, controlled sessions. An extra benefit: The product was awarded “Interactive Toy Product of the Year” (Pet Innovation Award 2022). This makes the piano particularly suitable for owners who value well-considered activities – without overstimulating the animal, but with calm, focused mental work. Zoo-Roco tipStart “easy”: Initially fill only 2–3 tubes with tasty, rather small snacks and let your pet enjoy quick first successes. Once the principle is established, increase the challenge with more filled tubes or less "aromatic" rewards. And importantly: always use intelligence games under supervision – this keeps training safe and positive.Mini-FAQHow does the My Intelligent Pet Piano work? You fill snacks into the tubes. By pressing, your pet releases the reward and trains dexterity and concentration in the process. How do I make it easier or more difficult?Easier: fill fewer tubes, tasty-smelling snacks. More difficult: more tubes, smaller or more neutral snacks, longer “search phases”.How do I clean the game?Remove food residues and clean with a dry/slightly damp cloth, depending on the material. Ensure the game dries thoroughly. Is the game also suitable for cats?Yes, many cats enjoy working for food – start with little resistance and short sessions.
