Product information "JBL ProScape Soil Mount Aso Black"
JBL ProScape Mount Aso Soil black – active substrate
JBL ProScape Mount Aso Soil Black is a natural, active volcanic substrate for aquascaping and planted aquariums. It promotes soft, slightly acidic water, provides support for plant roots and ensures a high-contrast aquarium design.
JBL ProScape Soil Mount Aso Black is a natural, active volcanic substrate for professional aquascapes and densely planted aquariums. The black soil originates from Mount Aso in Japan and supports near-tropical water conditions with soft, slightly acidic water. At the same time, it provides aquarium plants with a firm hold in the substrate.
The porous structure of the volcanic soil ensures good water flow through the substrate. This supplies the plant roots with nutrients, whilst beneficial bacteria that break down pollutants find a large surface area on which to colonise. Furthermore, the substrate can bind colourants and suspended particles, thereby helping to keep the aquarium water clear.
The substrate is pre-cleaned, natural and free from sharp edges. This makes it suitable for aquariums with bottom-feeding or burrowing fish. The black colour sets aquarium plants, shrimps and colourful fish off to great effect and creates a natural, high-contrast look in the aquarium.

Black Soil is particularly well suited if you wish to visually highlight vibrant green plants, red stem plants, shrimp or colourful fish. Check the water parameters regularly during the running-in phase, as active Soil can affect water chemistry.
