Which is the best scratching post for cats?
The best scratching post for cats depends very much on the cat's individual needs and the space available. Some cats like hammocks, others like caves or large lying areas. Place the cat tree by a window and the cat will watch what is happening outside from the highest level. The tree must be stable, so choose a tree with a large baseplate and thick sisal stems if possible. Scratching trees that are built on several pillars wobble less. At least one trunk should be 70 cm high so that the cat can stretch while sharpening its claws. Cats use the scratching post not only to groom their claws, but also to mark their territory. With a scratching post in the house, you enable the cat to satisfy this need. Without a suitable cat tree, cats will search for another place to scratch (e.g. the upholstery).
