Product information "Bat box"

Bat box 30 x 15 x 48 cm

This bat box serves bats throughout the year as a shelter.

It should be noted that the bat box is mounted at least at a height of 5 m from the ground to protect the bats from predators and because of the approach height that bats ideally need. You can hang the bat box in a tree, as well as on a house wall, for example on the balcony. It is important that the bat box is well secured so that it does not wobble, as bats do not accept wobbly roosts.
When you attach the bat box is not crucial, bats look for a rearing roost in the spring (between March and April) and a winter roost in the fall (October).

  • WEATHERPROOF & DURABLE - The roof is made of multiplex wood, which is weatherproof and durable. The shelter is suitable as a summer and winter roost for all seasons
  • ECOSYSTEM - Protect one of the oldest species of animals from extinction. Bats feed on insects and harmful beetles, which can destroy plants and tree stands
  • True to the species - The bat box was made according to construction recommendations of the NABU . A narrow entrance opening provides protection from predators and drafts and grooves on the back wall give a secure hold.
  • SUSTAINABLE FOREST ECONOMY - The bat house is made entirely of untreated FSC wood

Why do we need bat boxes?
Bats play an important role in domestic ecosystems. Unfortunately, many species are now threatened with extinction. The reason for this is, on the one hand, that the use of insecticides deprives them of their food base and, on the other hand, that more and more bat roosts are disappearing due to intensive clearing or renovation of old buildings. Fortunately, bats love to accept artificially created living spaces. They use them as nest boxes, daytime hiding/hibernation sites, or for hibernation.

The Elmato bat house provides shelter for up to approximately 150 bats. The inside of the house is also equipped with a grippy grooved wooden panel, so that the bats can hold on to the walls or move away. Bats like to stay in draft-free, dry places. For this purpose, the weather-resistant roof made of multiplex wood ensures longer durability. The bat box can be attached to both trees and walls. Choose preferably a sunny place. Artificial light and direct rainfall, however, should be avoided.
  • Mass: 30 x 15 x 48 cm
  • Front door to open, easy cleaning
  • Roof made of multiplex wood, weatherproof
  • Roof construction prevents waterlogging
  • Inside grippy ribbed. Space for about 150 bats
  • narrowed entrance at the bottom - ideal for bats

Sparrow Villa Vertical
Vertical Sparrow Villa: Three nesting spaces for sociable garden birdsThis vertical sparrow villa offers three separate nesting compartments – ideal, as sparrows like to breed close to one another. The pinewood nesting box with a zinc roof helps birds find a nesting spot and can also serve as a shelter in winter.Product benefits:Vertical sparrow villa with 3 separate nesting compartmentsEntrance hole Ø 32 mmSuitable for house sparrows, tree sparrows, great tits, blue titsOpens via side doors (handy for inspection/maintenance)Weather protection thanks to a zinc roofCrafted from pine and zincTechnical dataProduct dimensions (W × D × H): 18.9 × 17.8 × 50.5 cmMaterial: pine wood, zincEntrance hole: Ø 32 mmNet weight: 2.189 kgEvery garden needs a nesting box – especially when natural nesting sites are in short supply. This vertically designed sparrow villa offers three separate nesting compartments, creating multiple breeding opportunities in one place. This is ideal for sparrows, as they are sociable birds and like to sit – and nest – close to one another. At the same time, other cavity nesters will also benefit: the 32 mm diameter entrance hole is suitable, among other species, for house sparrows and tree sparrows as well as great tits and blue tits. The nesting box is made of pine wood and features a zinc roof. The roof provides additional protection against the elements, making the box a durable addition to your outdoor space. Thanks to its slim, vertical shape, the Sparrow Villa can also be placed where space is limited – for example, on a house wall, a shed or a quiet side area of the garden.Practical for everyday use: The Sparrow Villa can be opened via side doors. This makes it easier for you to check on it and, in particular, to clean it. Regular cleaning is important to keep the nesting box hygienic and make it attractive for the next breeding season. Many birds also use nesting boxes outside the breeding season as a sheltered place to sleep and retreat – this can be a valuable advantage, especially in winter. The location is crucial for successful adoption: hang the nesting box in a quiet, sheltered spot, not in direct sunlight and not on the side exposed to heavy rain. Ensure there is a clear approach so that the birds can reach the entrance easily. This will create the best conditions for the Sparrow Villa to quickly come to life and make your garden even more vibrant. Zoo Roco tip: It is best to clean the nesting box in autumn: remove old nesting material and brush the inside dry (without using harsh cleaning agents). Hang the Sparrow Villa so that the entrance does not face directly towards the weather – this increases the chance that it will be permanently adopted.
