Lotus Pod XXL – tannin-rich natural decoration for blackwater aquariums and terrariumsThe Lotus Pod XXL is an impressive, natural lotus seed pod for blackwater biotopes, shrimp aquariums and natural-looking aquascapes. With its distinctive shape and numerous cavities, it adds a striking feature to the aquarium whilst also providing small hiding places and foraging areas for shrimp and small fish.
The lotus pod gradually releases valuable tannins into the water. These can give the aquarium water a slight amber colour and help to create a natural blackwater environment.Particularly tropical fish species benefit from an environment that resembles their natural habitat.
The Lotus Pod XXL is 100% natural, chemical-free and ideal for combining with Catappa leaves, alder cones or Cholla wood. This creates an authentic, natural arrangement for aquariums with soft, slightly acidic water. The Lotus Pod XXL is also highly versatile in terrarium keeping. Thanks to its numerous cavities, the natural capsule provides ideal retreat and hiding places for isopods, small invertebrates and microfauna. Particularly in natural-looking terrariums or bioactive setups, it promotes a varied environment whilst also serving as a decorative natural feature.Advantages at a glanceNatural lotus seed pod for aquariumsRich in tannins for blackwater setupsPromotes a natural aquarium environmentProvides hiding places and foraging areas for shrimp and small fishDecorative, eye-catching structure100% natural and chemical-freeIdeal for biotope and blackwater aquariumsGoes well with Catappa leaves or Cholla woodAlso suitable as a natural hiding place for isopods and small terrarium inhabitantsProduct detailsSize: approx. 9–12 cm (as this is a natural product, it may differ from the image)Contents: 1 pieceMaterial: Lotus flower seed pod, Nelumbo nuciferaSuitable for: freshwater aquariums, blackwater biotopes, shrimp aquariums and terrariumsInstructions for use: Rinse briefly with clean water before adding to the tank. As the Lotus Pod XXL may float at first, it is advisable to soak it for 1–2 days or weigh it down with a heavy object. Over time, the capsule sinks and slowly releases tannins into the water.Zoo Roco Tip: The Lotus Pod XXL is particularly suitable for aquariums containing shrimp, small characins, dwarf cichlids or other species that thrive in blackwater, as well as for isopods and other invertebrates. Check the water parameters regularly, as natural products can affect the pH level and water colour.
Ceramic Mangrove D – decorative root for aquariums and terrariumsThe Ceramic Mangrove is a lifelike ceramic replica of a mangrove. It is easy to assemble and makes an attractive decoration for aquariums and terrariums. Its branched shape creates interesting structures, hiding places and natural accents in the tank.
A major advantage in aquatics: as the mangrove is made of ceramic, it does not release any colour or tannins into the water. This keeps the aquarium water clear and prevents discolouration, as can happen with real roots. The ceramic mangrove is therefore particularly low-maintenance and ready to use straight away. Please note: Unlike real roots, this mangrove cannot be planted with live plants. However, it is ideal as a durable, dimensionally stable decoration for fish, shrimps, reptiles or amphibians.Advantages at a glanceCeramic mangrove replicaEasy to assembleDoes not release any colour or tannins into the aquarium waterSuitable for aquariums and terrariumsNatural look with a branched structureEasy to care for and retains its shapeNot suitable for plantingDimensions: 98 x 40 x 58 cm (L x W x H)Zoo Roco Tip: Rinse the Ceramic Mangrove briefly with clean water before adding it to the tank. In aquariums, it is a good alternative to real roots if you want a natural look but don’t want the water to become discoloured by wood.

Banana leaves – natural care and decoration for aquariumsBanana leaves are a natural and decorative addition to freshwater aquariums. They are particularly suitable for shrimp aquariums, blackwater setups and naturally themed tanks. Once in the water, the dried leaves slowly release tannins, helping to create a natural aquarium environment.
The leaves provide small fish, shrimp, snails and crabs with sheltered areas to hide in. As they gradually decompose, they create valuable grazing areas and a natural food source for shrimp and snails. Banana leaves are also popular in shrimp breeding, as they provide the animals with places to retreat to and additional surfaces for grazing.Banana leaves are an interesting alternative or addition to sea almond leaves and can be combined very well with other natural materials such as catappa bark, coconut shells, lotus pods or cholla wood.Advantages at a glanceNatural leaves for aquariums and shrimp tanksRelease tannins into the waterCan help to support a natural blackwater environmentProvide hiding places for small fish, shrimp, snails and crayfishUsed as grazing and feeding areas whilst decomposingNaturally dried and untreatedSafe for fish, shrimp, crayfish and snailsContents: 20 piecesUsageUse approximately 1 leaf per 5 litres of aquarium water. The leaves can be placed directly into the aquarium. They usually sink after 48–72 hours and remain effective for around 2–3 weeks. Afterwards, the remains can be removed or left in the aquarium as a natural food source for shrimp and snails.
Zoo Roco Tip:
Combine banana leaves with catappa leaves, coconut shells or moss-covered stones. This will create a natural arrangement with plenty of hiding places, foraging areas and a particularly harmonious look.
Catappa Leaves XL – natural sea almond tree leaves for aquariums and terrariumsCatappa Leaves XL are large, dried leaves of the sea almond tree and are particularly popular in aquariums with tropical fish, shrimp and blackwater species. In water, the leaves release natural tannins and humic substances slowly, which may cause the aquarium water to take on a slightly yellowish to brownish tint. This natural colouring diffuses the light and mimics the habitat of many tropical fish species.
As the leaves slowly decompose, they create valuable grazing areas for shrimp, catfish and other aquarium inhabitants. At the same time, the large leaves provide natural cover and places of refuge. Catappa leaves can also be used decoratively in terrariums and serve as hiding places for small animals or as ground decoration.
Catappa leaves are a popular natural product for natural-looking aquariums, blackwater setups and biotope tanks. When stored dry, they have a very long shelf life and are easy to use.Advantages at a glanceLarge Catappa leaves with a length of 21–40 cmRelease natural tannins and humic substancesSupport a natural blackwater appearanceCan promote the well-being of fishProvide grazing areas for shrimp and catfishAlso suitable as decoration and hiding place in the terrarium100 % natural product
UsageThe leaves can be placed directly into the aquarium. They soak up water and sink to the bottom after some time. There they release their natural substances over several weeks. After about two to three weeks, a new leaf can be added if needed. The old leaves can remain in the aquarium, as they are readily grazed on by shrimp and other animals.Product detailsSize: approx. 21–40 cmContents: 10 piecesMaterial: dried leaves of the sea almond tree, Terminalia catappaSuitable for: freshwater aquariums, blackwater tanks, shrimp aquariums and terrariumsZoo Roco Tip: Catappa Leaves XL can be ideally combined with alder cones, lotus pods, cholla wood or coconut shells. This creates a particularly natural-looking aquarium with many hiding places and valuable surfaces for grazing.
Aqua Rebell Makro Spezial NPK Soil Aqua Rebell Makro Spezial NPK Soil is a liquid macronutrient fertiliser for planted aquariums, particularly for aquascapes with active soil substrate. The fertiliser specifically supplies aquatic plants with the essential macronutrients nitrogen, phosphate and potassium.
The special formulation is nitrogen-rich, phosphate-limited and potassium-enriched. This makes the fertiliser particularly well-suited to aquariums with soil, as it supports nutrient supply without unnecessarily affecting the natural nutrient dynamics of the substrate. The result is vigorous, robust and relatively compact plant growth. The ready-to-use liquid fertiliser is easy to dose and can be individually adjusted depending on plant density, lighting, CO₂ supply and nutrient consumption. NPK Soil can also be used in aquariums without soil if a controlled supply of macronutrients with reduced phosphate input is desired.
For optimum results, we recommend combining it with a suitable micronutrient fertiliser to supply iron and trace elements, for example Aqua Rebell Mikro Spezial Flowgrow.Advantages at a glanceMacronutrient fertiliser containing nitrogen, phosphate and potassiumSpecially developed for planted aquariums with soil substrateNitrogen-rich and phosphate-limited formulationEnriched with potassium for a balanced supplyPromotes vigorous, healthy and compact plant growthAlso suitable for aquariums without soil, if controlled fertilisation is desiredLiquid and ready to useContents: 500 ml or 1000mlUsage and instructionsWeekly water changes of 25 to 50 % are recommended. The dosage can be increased or reduced depending on the aquarium. If nitrate or phosphate levels are already high, the fertiliser should be used with great caution or not at all. If nitrate or phosphate levels rise too sharply as a result of fertilisation, the dosage should be reduced accordingly.
A CO₂ concentration of around 20 mg/l can help to promote vigorous plant growth.Zoo Roco Tip: At the start, check nitrate, phosphate and potassium levels regularly to find the right dosage for your aquarium. When used in combination with an iron and trace element fertiliser, this provides a complete nutrient supply for healthy aquarium plants.

Package contents:e 300 = 1 in-line heater 300 W for aquariums from 90-300 l (80-120 cm) with hose connections for 12/16, 16/22 and 19/25 mm and cleaning brushe 500 = 1 in-line heater 500 W for aquariums from 160-600 l (100-150 cm) with hose connections for 12/16, 16/22 and 19/25 mm and cleaning brush
Most aquarium fish come from tropical waters and need water temperatures between 22 and 30 °C. In community aquariums with fish/invertebrates from different regions, a water temperature of 24-26 °C has shown to be effective. 30 °C is only suitable for some fish breeding (e.g. discus fish). Many shrimp species come from cooler waters and do not tolerate temperatures of 25-30°C. The water temperature should be set with a "regulated heater" which regulates the temperature automatically. For this purpose, there are rod-shaped heaters which are fixed in the aquarium (JBL ProTemp s) in various wattage and external heaters/in-line heaters which are integrated in the water-returning hose of an external filter (JBL ProTemp e) in two wattage. The advantage of external heaters is that it is one less product to be placed INSIDE the aquarium and the distribution of heat in the aquarium is more even. In addition, the digital display of the external heater always clearly shows the current water temperature. Under gravel heating is NOT used to set the water temperature. An under gravel heating cable ensures a better flow of water through the substrate of the aquarium, as the heated water at the heating cable rises and colder water flows into the areas between the heating cables. Thus, nutrients are flushed to the plant roots and ensure optimal plant growth. Under gravel heating cables must always be supplemented by a "main heater" (JBL ProTemp s or e).
