What additional food supplements does my terrarium animal need?

The specific food supplements that a terrarium animal needs depend very much on the type of animal and its nutritional requirements. Here are a few examples that are often used in terrariums:
- Calcium supplements: is important for bone formation and is used as a supplement when it is not present in the food animal.
- Multivitamin supplements: This is a mixture of vitamins and minerals that help to close nutritional gaps.
- Vitamin D3: In addition to calcium, direct supplementation of vitamin D3 is often necessary, especially for reptiles that receive little or no UVB light. This helps with calcium absorption and the prevention of diseases such as rickets.
- Mineral supplements: Some animals require additional minerals such as phosphorus, iron or zinc, which are not always present in sufficient quantities in their normal diet.
Caution! Vitamins can also be overdosed - "more" is not always better!
