It is a natural hybrid between Cryptocoryne griffithii and Cryptocoryne cordata. The type described here originates from Borneo with an unusual marbling of the leaf blades. Its growth is significantly slower than that of other known species of water calyx in the aquarium hobby. With a growth height of approx. 10 cm (previous cultivation experience in the aquarium), it remains relatively small in size and can therefore be used well in the foreground, depending on the size of the tank. As with all Cryptocorynes, a nutrient-rich substrate is very important, as many nutrients are absorbed via the roots.Aquatic plants in vitroIn vitro plants are cultivated in the laboratory under sterile conditions. They are supplied in a 7cm closed container. The small plants are completely free of algae and snails and can be planted directly. This product group is ideal for smaller aquariums and nano cubes as well as for modern aquascaping. You can easily see how demanding each plant is by looking at the top right-hand corner of the packaging. Before planting, simply rinse off the culture medium and portion out the plant

Its leaf edges are slightly wavy; in some cases, the leaves are also bullous in shape. The leaf colour is green to brown, sometimes with brown streaking. With good lighting, its leaves become deep dark brown. In combination with other green cryptocorynes, this creates a very striking contrast. Like almost all Cryptocorynes from Sri Lanka, it grows well in harder water and is therefore ideally suited for cichlid aquaria.

Its roundish leaves grow to around ½ centimetre in size and are bright green in colour. As a typically light-hungry plant, it does not like excessively high temperatures. Like Hemianthus micranthemoides, it can also be easily trimmed into shape with sharp scissors. The pearlwort is well suited to nano cubes, especially if the miniature aquarium is operated without a heater. Temperature 18-26°C

Its leaves are 3–6 cm wider than those of the ‘amazonicus’ variety, and the height of up to 60 cm makes this species appear even more dominant. Mature clumps, some with more than 50 leaves, are a striking feature. However, the substrate must be at least 10 cm deep for the root system to develop properly. Combined with Helanthium species (dwarf Echinodorus), beautiful South American underwater landscapes can be created.
