Easy to care for & ideal for small aquariums
Triops and fairy shrimps are robust, easy to keep prehistoric crayfish and are ideal for beginners. A small aquarium with a volume of 2 liters or more is sufficient to observe their entire life cycle.
- Triops grow up to 7 cm in size
- Fairy shrimps reach approx. 2.5 cm
At temperatures between 20-26 °C and soft water, the tiny nauplii hatch and reach an age of around 2-3 months with good care.
Breeding cycle - New generations again and again
Triops lay their eggs in the substrate, while fairy shrimps simply drop them to the bottom. Once the animals have completed their life cycle, the sand can be dried and used again - creating the next generation of prehistoric crayfish.
Tip: A batch can be used several times, as all the eggs never hatch at the same time.
