The exact origin of the plant is not entirely clear, it is a variety that is relatively new to aquaristics and probably originated in Asia.
The habit of this plant is very similar to Hygrophila polysperma, both also show similar requirements and grow about the same size. Hygrophila sp. Tiger is an easy to care for plant, so it is recommended for beginners in aquaristics.It is a narrow-leaved, tall-growing stem plant that tolerates a very wide range of aquarium conditions.It has no special requirements for pH or water hardness. It tolerates a temperature of 20 to 30 °C.With good light conditions and an adequate supply of macro and micro elements, you can be sure that this plant will color impressively. It will look spectacular and provide a red background for the other species in the tank. The brown colour variant of Cryptocoryne wendtii is also very popular and can be used in many planted landscapes. Its leaf edges are slightly wavy; in some cases, the leaves are also bullous in shape. The leaf colour is green to brown, sometimes with brown streaking. Vallisneria spiralis is also one of the classics in aquaristics. This undemanding aquatic plant forms ribbon-shaped leaves between 0.8 and 1.5 cm wide. Sometimes leaf lengths of up to 1 metre are achieved. It is easy to care for and cultivate and is ideal for creating a green, living back wall. Runner shoots that grow into the front area should be removed in good time. The species name "spiralis" does not refer to the leaves, but to the spirally twisted flower stems. In the aquarium, the plant forms a compact rosette with a rust-red to deep dark red colour. Older plants reach a height of up to 25 cm.
